Q: What gauge wire will the switch handle?

Around #4 - #6 thicker like #2 or 0 don't think so.

Q: Is this switch UL Certified?

There is no UL cert on the ones I bought. The contacts seem to be pretty sturdy, and I'm only going to run about 30 amps through them, so I'm confident they are safe for my use. But if safety is a primary concern, certification becomes important.

Q: Is each pole separate or are they all connected in the middle to each other?

They are separate. With the handle straight up and down, no connections are made. Throwing the switch closes 3 separate circuits from the center to one side. Throwing the other way connects the same center circuits to the other side. Hope this helps.

Q: what are the demmentios of the switch I would like to mout in ext box ?

The length is 6-3/8", width 5-1/4", and height 4" (none of these dimensions includes the actuator handle which would add more depending on its position). This is a nicely made knife switch, for the price, with heavy blades which firmly seat when pressed "home". I would not recommend this switch for outdoor or industrial/commercial use requiring lots of cycling. Plus it is not weather proof at all. It is designed for surface mounting and so is not dimensioned for any standard electrical box I am familiar with.
