ABBA: The Album 40th Anniversary

The thing I liked the most was that the CD began with an identical copy of the vinyl album; which I'd owned since July of 1979. Furthermore: I was equally impressed with all the extra tracks which were featured. As for what I liked the least: I really can't think of a single complaint I have about this product. It arrived adequately wrapped and sealed; and played positively perfectly! Definitely sheer audible ecstasy all the way! I've been completely happy with the vinyl records I've duplicated on CD! Furthermore: This particular one was definitely no exception! I'd highly recommend this to anyone who is a devout Abba fan; or is especially fond of this album; and is looking for a suitable CD replacement! Rest assured this one definitely fits the proverbial bill! thanks so much for all your help in my obtaining such a splendid and phenomenal product! I absolutely love it!

This is my favorite ABBA album. So many excellent songs on it. Had it on LP back in the day, and I just got around to buying the CD. It is as great as I remember it being!

It’s the original 2001 re-issue with bonus track by Polar Music, that’s becoming hard to find. Excellent quality and a lot of info and good pictures on the booklet.

Wow! Beautiful artwork and pictures with some nice background on the production of the album. This is my first 45 LP, and it doesn't disappoint. The sound is significantly better than the ABBA Gold double vinyl release, which still sounds great, but this album is a step up. I'm very happy with this purchase. It would be great if there were other ABBA albums available in this format?

Great album super wuality

This album is great, took me back a few decades and the sound was great. I also enjoyed the extra few photos they added to the sleeves.

I have been purchasing remasters (RM) on CD on a regular basis hoping to hear better sound, such as more balanced equalization, less distortion, and maybe even more detail. This CD is a 2001 remaster (UPC #731454995429). I purchased this ABBA masterpiece because I did not already own it on CD.On first listen I thought I heard what I had hoped for, the vocals had been “tamed” slightly, less aggressive and peaky, and the bass was a little more punchy/hefty. The impression came and went depending on the particular song. And even with my aged hearing I think I detected a little more high frequency content; maybe not extended or airy, just more prominent.After listening to a new purchase, I always make some measurement comparisons, and further listening with previous versions. In this case I compared three songs from the ABBA Gold CD from 1992 (UPC #731451700729).I measured frequency spectrum over several minutes of each track. I was surprised how similar both versions were considering that I had heard differences. But on one song at least, the remaster measured with less bass and highs! So, what was going on here?Dynamic Range (DR) was the answer. For the three tracks that I compared, the 2001 RM always had a lower DR rating (per MAAT DR Offline Meter). The minimum difference was DR10 vs. DR12, the maximum difference was DR10 vs. DR15. This is significant. Now it made sense. I was fooled by the compression into thinking there was a punchier bass and increased HF . . . that is usually what compression does . . . give you more of everything! A look at the waveforms showed obviously lower peaks in the RM than the ‘Gold’, a telltale sign of compression.After making the measurements I listened carefully to both versions. The comparison made obvious the loss of dynamics. The RM was less ‘alive’. Since the originals are already quite compressed, I’m not surprised that did not notice the loss of dynamics on first listen. As I have discovered with many other remasters of major artists, compression has been applied resulting in lower dynamic range than the original releases had. I consider this a setback for quality sound, However it is just fine for most people, who listen in their car, on Bose headphones, or computer speakers.DOWN WITH THE LOUDNESS WARS!

Las canciones son pegajosas y con excelentes arreglos. Destacan Eagle, Take a Chance on Me, The Name of the Game, Thank You For the Music, Hole in Your Soul... bueno, en realidad todas son magníficas canciones.La edición en Vinyl incluye un inserto con las letras de las canciones; su prensa fue en 180g.

45回転の、２枚組レコードを購入。当時、一枚ものの輸入盤を買いましたが、あの頃のアメリカ盤は新品でもノイズがすごくて、まるでテンポを無視したパーカッションが鳴っているようでした。これは、え？レコードなの？と思うくらいノイズレス。加えて、なんてスッキリとしていながら迫力あるサウンド。これだけ磨いて貰えば、アーティストも誇らしいでしょう。内容はアバの最高作の一つ。オープナーが地味過ぎて、ちょっと損してるけド。

I ordered this Vinyl from Amazon and got it delivered in couple of days.Packaging: Amazon has done a decent and lovely job in carefully packing the Vinyl inside a larger box with air cushion bags in it. This really made sure not to damage the vinyl during transit. 5 Stars for packing Amazon. keep it up!!!The Vinyl: l.It contains an inner sleeve with the group photo of ABBA over it and the record neatly resting inside it. There is also a free code inside that can be used to download the mp3 version of the album from the website.Lovely collection of songs and good recording as well.Quality of the Vinyl itself is top notch and feels really heavy in the hands.Overall 5 stars and would definitely love to purchase more Vinyls from Amazon.
