Some good tips but not enough to plan a space well.
I think she has practical tips to share such as - 1) how you pull together different prints 2) furniture placement 3) window treatments tips but other than that I feel like she stays on the surface with basic principles and could have explained further how to place furniture and space planning. Very little information on lighting. She could have gone into what type of lighting to use on what focal points such as ambient vs. directional vx. accent lighting and what types of fixtures to use for different spaces or styles. Some of the creative ideas she shared were somewhat vague. I learned more at least in terms of space planning and in what order do you decorate from "Cozy Minimalist Home" by Myquillan Smith. I do like her graphic paper and notes page; I may be using those to plan out rooms.

Pretty nice decorating ideas...with a side of prostletizing <sigh>
Genuinely decent book with some terrific ideas. Unfortunately the average christian is terribly insecure in their personal beliefs and so feels an unquenchable desire to spew all over unsuspecting/innocent bystanders. As a non-christian, I found the insertion of religion undesirable, unwarranted, and disruptive. The author has absolutely ever right to embrace whatever faith she chooses, she should extend respect to readers of other or no faith - unless her topic is specifically christian.I seriously contemplated returning it, it was that off-putting. I strongly urge this author to re-think her urge to inject christian folderol in how-to home decorating planners. As it is, I've torn out and thrown away pages, crossed out ALL references to HER religion in MY planner.

A Wonderfully Helpful DIY HOME PLANNER, with Tips and Tricks to Make Your House YOUR HOME.
Lighthearted, heartfelt, straightforward tips and tricks and stories of how to make your house YOUR home! KariAnne Wood has written a fun, easy-to-read and reference work book to help you make decorating decisions. I like that it is a "planner" that you can actually put your paint and fabric samples into, along with the use of the built in pocket for all of the scraps and inspiration bits that you might have. It even has a darling and practical red elastic to hold the book closed, after stuffing it with all of the decorating goodness that you have stuffed in there. Great for reference and especially great as a gift for a new homeowner or anyone who might want some guidance in a home decorating journey!

Perfectly charming and full of inspiration!
Seriously, folks, this planner is just as adorable as KariAnne herself, and if you follow her blog (and you should), you know what I mean. But besides reflecting the warmth and humor that makes her blog so popular, this book has solid decorating advice and DIY instructions that anyone can follow, while making it FUN! The charming artwork by Michael Sparks, (It's nice to see parts of the farmhouse again), the cutouts to play with furniture placement, the cute little pocket to hold your paint samples, etc.- it's all just adorable. If I had this planner when I was younger and just starting to decorate my house, I wouldn't have made so many mistakes. Highly recommend!
