A Feast Of Wayne
This is a fantastic collection, which I was given as a gift. It is certainly one which will keep me endlessly entertained until I too go to the celestial campfire ! The joy of this set is that it has many familiar films like Fort Apache,Iwo Jima,The Quiet Man,War Wagon, etc, but also contains films not widely seen but which are nonetheless cracking good films with solid performances.Shepherd Of The Hills is a great Henry Hathaway "hillbilly" in which Wayne gives a fine performance to match an intelligent story.Former silent film star Harry Carey Snr co-stars.Dark Command is action-packed and suits Wayne perfectly,as does The Spoilers opposite the great Randolph Scott. Check out Tycoon and compare the styles of Wayne and Sir Cedric Hardwicke....a long film which mixes action with drama and romance...much under-rated. Add to this the ludicrous Jet Pilot, with fantastic aerial photography, little known items such as Seven Sinners, plus the wartime heroics and many other gems and curios and you have a great nourishing stew of films to satisfy any appetite.Season with such names as Marlene Dietrich,Robert Ryan,Oliver Hardy (honestly!),Anthony Quinn,Maureen O'Hara,Katherine Hepburn,Janet Leigh,Kirk Douglas, etc, and you cannot go wrong. 34 films on 30 discs which take up very little space on the shelf. Great value , not just for those who like Wayne's films but for anyone who loves the cinema.

Get on yer Horse!
Let me make it clear from the outset that I am not and never have been a John Wayne fan for he had all the acting talent of a sycamore in December. That said (ducking the rocks!), this is a tidy little collection of many of his best films.I bought this as a gift for a friend who is a big fan of the Duke. It was well received and I understand that he plays them quite often. From the limited views I have had of the films I have to say that some of them are a touch faded. We are not talking about major restorations here but it is only DVD here and on an average TV they look just fine. There are a few films that my friend had never heard of but then he would be happy if John Wayne was in a Tellytubbies episode..thinks....wasn't he not Tinky Winky in a few?For die hard Wayne fans this is a must I suppose and reasonable value and all that and on this basis I would recommend the product. I have only given it three stars simply because I am a grumpy old man who hates John Wayne, others will no doubt disagree! Oh and for Scottish readers, Jack and Victor knew just how do describe Wayne:)

High Quality Films.
I bought this for a birthday present. The recipient was really impressed with the quality of the films, considering when they were first made. He says there is a good selection of John Wayne's best films.
