Great Mini PC! How to install Linux on it! True Dual boot!
Great little mini PC but while I am not a huge fan of windows, I bought this one to do a dual boot (without the Linux grub) by installing Linux onto a separate 2nd NVME SSD by the provided extra SSD slot. It's really easy to do!*Note: You will need to use a "Wired" keyboard and Mouse as a bluetooth Keyboard and mouse will not get you into the BIOS settings. A keyboard and Mouse with A USB 2.4ghz dongle should work as long as it is plugged in prior.Steps to install Linux on a second NVME SSD:BIOS Steps:1.) Press the ESC button and hold down at startup or on a restart to enter the BIOS Menu. See attached pics of BIOS.2.) Navigate to the "Security" tab at top3.) Click on "Secure Boot"4.) Change "Enabled" to "Disabled"5.) Click on the F10 key ( some keyboards may have to press Fn+ F10) to save the configuration, select YesSteps to install Linux:A.) Download and Install Ventoy onto USB Stick ( ventoy.net ) This will show up as an external USB "Ventoy" driveB.) Download Linux Distro .ISO of choice. If you want to try multiple distros, you can add them to your "Ventoy" USB stick at this time as long as your USB stick is large enough in size. ( most Linux Distros are around 2GB).C.)Copy a Linux Distro .iso onto Ventoy USB Stick from your Downloads folder ( keep USB Stick plugged in) A simple copy from your downloads folder and paste onto Ventoy drive.D.) (Leave Ventoy USB Stick connected to PC) Restart PC while Pressing F7- (This brings up the Boot menu)E.) Ventoy will show up and you can select your Linux distro by using up or down keys and pressing EnterF.) Some Distros will take some time to load, please wait as it is loading. At this step you are trying the linux distro as it is running in Ram. If you close the OS down it will not be installed until the next step.G.) inside the Linux Distro, click on the "install to disk" shortcut on desktopH.) You can choose the option to whichever SSD you want to install it to ( Suggested onto a 2nd SSD as this will not install the Grub menu on your Windows drive which can cause booting problems in the future with updates) You may have to choose "Custom Install" as all Distros are different. Refer to your Distro's Installation procedures*Note: Verify you are installing to the correct NVME drive or you could install over WindowsI.) After Installation, to get into the Linux distro you will need to press F7 at Startup or Restart to get to the Boot menu to select your Linux distro or select Windows Boot Manager to get into your original Windows 11 Operating system.Enjoy your true dual boot Linux and Windows System!

The GMKtec Plus Gaming Mini PC...amazing PC
My name is Dr A and I am a real person. I recently purchased this product, the GMKtec Plus Gaming Mini PC Loaded with Win 11 and a 1T SSD. It can be used for Gaming but can also be used as a PC, which is what i bought it for. I love its compact size. It sits on my desk next to my monitor. It is extremely quiet. literally, I cannot hear its dual cooling fans working. As with most electronic devices things rarely go smoothly which is where technical support is extremely important, especially when this purchase involves software (Win 11) and hardware. I did have issuers getting some of my old peripheries to work correctly and I had some Win 11 glitches. I am happy to report that the technical support I received was outstanding, to say the least. After about 5-7 days of working kinks out, I discovered the errors were mostly on my part, such as the Microsoft One Drive, and Screen Saver, Screen sleep and Power plans such as PC going to Sleep functions were working. Once I resolved the One Drive issues (I completely by removing it from the OS register and deleted it from my computer. I do not use or need the Cloud. The only issue remaining were the screen saver and screen shut off and Mini PC not going to sleep functions not working. With the aid of technical support, we believed the issue may be with my older Hp monitor with it VGA port. In order to get the monitor to work and to plug into the Mini's HDMI port I need to use a VGA to HDMI adapter. I was thrilled this adapter worked well however, I later discovered this adapter was preventing the Screen Saver and Sleep (Power Setting Plans) from working correctly. I was advised by technical support to test the Mini PC with a different monitor. I tested with the HPE243 monitor with a dedicated HDMI port. I connected it to the Mini PC with the HDMI cable which shipped with the Mini PC. I tested it with WIFI connect and also unconnected. I also tested it at different launch times for the Screen saver and screen power off as well as mini PC Sleep functions. To my surprise the monitor and or adapter were the issues. Problem solved. All functions are now working perfectly. I created a Recover Disk and performed a full disk image backup onto an external drive. Now, I'm all set. Oh, I also order a new monitor. I cannot thank the technical support staff enough for not only helping me with the hardware side but also on the software issues. The GMKtec Plus Gaming Mini PC is an amazing Mini PC. I've already referred several of my friends. I highly recommend, if you are looking to conserve space and have a great Mimi PC/gaming box, this is the one for you. An addition: I discovered the new win 11 does not like wireless USB mouse. If you use one the power plan functions will not work, the screen saver, screen power off and PC sleep. I tried this on three separate machines with wireless usb mouse. Once disconnected and a conventional wired usb mouse connected, all worked well. This was not the case in win 10.

Failed after 5 months - Updated after exceptional Customer Support
Computer has failed after 5 months of use. Blue screen of death, all Automatic Repair options fail to resolve issue. I have contacted customer support with all requested info, including pics of Repair Screen notices of failed repair attempts.I will update this review when I hear back from Customer Support and how they intend to resolve this issue. At this point I will assign One Star for a product that I would expect to last many years, not a few months.Side note: I was system admin for PCs and software engineer for many years. I know my way around computers and this unit has a serious issue.UPDATE Upgrading this review based on the exceptional Customer Support I received. Email responses were very quick, several in a day's time. I tried the various methods that CS advised and I was unable to get the Mini PC to function. After their suggestions (several) to resolve the issue were attempted, they arranged for a replacement. No sooner than I provided them with a tracking number for the return, a new one was placed and received in two days - outstanding! The only downside is that I had to, again, accomplish transferring all the apps and data from the old PC to this new one. I had Image and recovery files but they apparently were corrupted by whatever was going on with the failed PC. Regardless, new Image, Backup and Recovery files have been created...hoping they won't be needed in the future.5 Stars for Customer Support. Subtracted a Star for all the rework I had to accomplish.
