Fantastic!
Of course, the novel itself is awesome, and about the book itself, it's everything you can ask for in a Paperback edition. The paper used in the pages makes it feel like a facsimile edition.

Great!!!
I'm just getting back into the comic world and specifically, Batman, who will always be my #1 comic hero. Loved Batman since watching the reruns in the 70's and spending my allowance on each new comic installment.Really enjoyed this storyline.

Good purchase, but...
This is my first time reading the saga, and I am very pleased. I think the compact edition might be easier to read somehow. I thought that the smaller print would be harder to read, but the pages are just flying by, love it. Speaking of pages, I really enjoy the texture of the paper they used. It's more matted than glossy, which I prefer. The sound of it, the feel, the smell... You don't get that with digital copies.Apparently, these types of books also come with a label to indicate the genre of the graphic novel... How did they not think of this before?! It makes so much sense. Not all comics are made the same, and knowing what you're getting yourself into takes the guess work out of it. It's like when you're watching a movie, when you pick one out you want to make sure it's the genre you're looking for i.e., action, romance, etc. Some authors/ publishers use some version of it already (e.g. "<insert title>: a horror novel") but maybe all books should tell potential readers what the genre is.The only problem with this purchase is that the adhesive where the cover meets the spine is coming lose. Some of the early pages also seem to be revealing the binding/ adhesive. I'm gentle with my books, I don't recklessly pry them open when reading. So, I'm thinking the manufacturer might need to use something stronger to keep things together. Luckily, it's not a glaring problem for me. It could just be a problem inherent to the medium.Overall I'm pleased with the purchase. I strongly recommend getting compact versions of comic book sagas. I see kingdom come and the authority are getting the compact treatment too. Could they do this for Constantine, Lucifer, Preacher, and the other classics? 🥹

A Modern Classic
*Copied from my review on Goodreads*While I’ve been a fan of superheroes, and Batman in particular, for as long as I can remember, I didn’t really start reading comics until I was in high school and DC launched the New 52. Of the titles I subscribed to at the time, Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s Batman was easily the best of the bunch, and it started with The Court of Owls Saga, which is collected here. I absolutely loved it at the time and couldn’t wait to read each issue when they came out, especially when the other titles I was reading at the time all struggled with some degree of inconsistency as they shifted creative teams or got pulled into larger events (darn you, Avengers vs X-Men). I reread each issue multiple times, and then the whole story when it was complete; it was that good!So now, rereading it nearly a decade later as an adult, I find myself loving it just as much, if not more than, I did back then. You get the full Batman in this story, along with fascinating new villains, stakes that feel real, and incredible artwork from Greg Capullo. One of the other great things about this is that you don’t need to be caught up on years of backstory for this to make sense, you just need a basic understanding of the Batman mythos, which a lot of people have anymore courtesy of his dominance of most forms of entertainment. If you’ve never gotten into comics and are curious about them, or if you’ve been a fan for years and have never read this, I would definitely recommend that you pick up The Court of Owls Saga, as it is a modern classic within superhero comics.

COURT OF OWLS! COURT OF OWLS!
It’s a classic for a reason, folks. I’ve always been of the opinion that if you read one run from Batman, it should be this one. The plot is A+ and the art direction is stunning.

A must own saga.
11/09/2024Was expecting it in two days it instead became a next day delivery so that was a plus. Came in good condition with no tearing or bent pages. Book was smaller than other graphic novels I own. But it's only an observation more than a critique. And it's a thick book so you're going to have a lot to enjoy with. Will edit with a review on the book itself in a week as this is first a review of amazons delivery of the product itself.Edit: 1/17/25 I realized that the compact was the reason the comic books are this size. I am glad because it makes it useful for travel and it's at a great price.
