The position of ears, tail, mouth and body; the look of the eyes, the rising of dorsal fur and others physical expressions are contextualized and translated into meaningful signals. In particular, I found revealing the different nuances of response to human displays of affection which are unpleasant for dogs (i.e., being stroked in body areas where they do not like to be touched, or being held in positions that they do not perceive as 'safe'), but are accepted nonethess because they trust the human. Overall a good read even for seasoned dog owners. Definitely adds insight to human-dog relationship. The way it’s written from the perspective of the dog being the writer-is insightful, enlightening, and best of all...hilarious! All which help me remember the signals to let me know what the dog is communicating. It’s a fun, easy read and I would say for all ages. Lots of great photos. I’ve had Greyhounds and some of my best memories of my late Greyhound “Slim’s” antics are on display with a dog in this book.
