5⭐️ perfection!
This book was insanely good! Dare I say, better than Butcher & Blackbird. A gruesomely funny and surprisingly tender love story. The gore is shocking, but the humor and romance keeps you hooked! I laughed, swooned and was utterly disgusted in equal measure! 😄The audiobook with Samantha Brentmoor and Eric Nolan made this experience 1000 times better! Some of my favourite bits (possible spoilers ahead):- As always, the trigger warnings were out of this world, I’ve had to side eye my snow globes since reading this book! Also, pizza 🤢- The way Eric says ‘My Wife’ - Christ Jesus🔥🔥🔥- The additional SFX in the audio book - the laughs, sighs, growls etc 🤭 made the listening experience so good!! Special thanks for the SFX in ‘Crawl’, ‘Enucleate’ and ‘Strapped’ 😏- Lark’s whole multiple deleter persona was hilariously scary!- Lachlan being so in tune with Lark’s needs and going out of his way to meet them 🥰- Aunt Ethel was so wickedly hilarious! Her encounter with the phantom brought me to literal tears 😂😂😂😂- The ‘Hello, you’ at the end of ‘Last Defense’ - is that you, Joe?? 😁- He gave her a literal heart trophy! 😍😍😍😍- Samantha’s singing 😍😍😍😍😍- The way Eric and Samantha played off of each other throughout the book made it feel like I was watching a movie! ❤️- The bonus chapter!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥- Rose and Fionn had better get their book soon! That cliffhanger had me worried! Please, for the love of all that is sparkly, get the audiobook!! You will not regret it!! Samantha’s work remains undefeated and she is utter perfection in this book! ❤️Eric is a new-to-me narrator, he absolutely killed it in this book! I am in awe! I’ve never listened to a narrator bring out an Irish character as authentically as he did Lachlan! Looking forward to listening to more of his work! ❤️Overall, a fun hilariously gory read. 100% recommend! Please check trigger warnings!Story - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Spice - 🌶️🌶️🌶️Audio - 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧* ♾️

Muffins and snow globes
So having read Sloane and Rowan’s story, it’s on to Lochlan and Lark’s. I didn’t think this was as dark as B&B, and wasn’t as many kinks. The humour was there though, it’s what enjoyed most in b&b too. I love the rogue Aunt, all knowing and meddling! I do feel there could have been more suspense and the death of the “bad guy” was a little underwhelming.

Not perfect
I was dying for this book to be released and when it did and I started reading I won't lie to you all.. I almost DNF.The first book was hard to compete with and what I loved about it was the banter between characters and the fact they were both crazy and their love for eachother was honestly something else! Also the plot twist?! YES I loved it.Leather&Lark fell short for me. I felt like the plot was forced? The beginning had potential based off Lark being a serial unaliver and how they met had me captured at first! I started loving it.. but then it just faded off into nothing.. their chemistry was none existant to me and the whole "marriage of convenience" just annoyed me 😂 80% of this book was boring and I was expecting more plus the "Phantom" chapters were just weird it made no sense to bring him into this?! I was just baffled that she made him the main "bad guy" 👎The spice was good at least! but unfortunately this wasn't it for me. I hope book number 3 is better 🖤🔪☠️

Superb Second Instalment
Well… what a ride! I absolutely LOVED it. This pair was so unexpected, and what I thought I knew about them from Butcher and Blackbird (book one) was only the tip of the iceberg.Lark Montague, on the surface, is light, but under her bubbly, gold-star-awarding exterior is a woman with demons and a dark side.I fell in love with her in B&B (when she awarded Sloane with gold star tits!), and I fell for her even more in this book. Her character development was incredible. She wars with herself, with her need to be everything for everyone else, and the guilt she feels over what Sloane did for her when they were at school.I loved seeing her fall in love with Lachlan. You definitely realise it before she does! And her singing? W O W. I listened to the audiobook, and it’s the first time I’ve heard a narrator sing on one. Just beautiful.Lachlan Kane. The oldest of the Kane brothers, the most stoic and most intense. (although, I’m starting to wonder if Fionn may take that title!) He has such depth and is surprisingly sensitive. He never imagined being in love, but when he is, he goes all in! I love how shy and unsure he gets when he’s not sure if Lark will be happy with something he’s done. Just so CUTE! I absolutely adore him.The spicy scenes, well… phew! The side characters were brilliant, with a special mention of Ethal. Loved her. I want to be her when I’m that old.And in pure Brynne Weaver style, more food gets involved. But this time, crafting isn’t safe either! 👀I can’t WAIT for book three, especially with how this one finished. Thanks, Brynne, for another five-star read 🖤

Obsessed
How can something so deeply steeped in the disturbing and gross be so fantastically sexy and engaging?Ask @brynne_weaver.I was a feckin’ catastrophe at the conclusion of the second book in the Ruinous Love Trilogy. It’s absolutely devilish, devious, hilarious, dark, twisted, fun. And the swoon.So. Much. Swoon.Feeling cheated after reading a physical copy of the brilliant first book, Rowan and Sloane’s story, for this, Lachlan and Lark’s turn, I listened to the audiobook, which is definitely the way to consume these books. It’s that Irish brogue.Thank you Eric Nolan. You’ve ruined all other accents - heck, all other men - for me.And let’s not forget the giggles which begin during the trigger warnings, setting the mood, for sure, as provided by the aforementioned Mr. Nolan and Samantha Brentmoor.Lachlan is a contract killer, Lark a multiple deleter (NOT a serial killer, thank you very much). They hate each other after a not so meet cute. But when the only way to protect the people they love is a marriage of convenience, the two agree, their loyalties fierce. And where Lachlan is dark and broody, Lark is glitter and sunshine. While the book is graphic - though less so than the first - this one focuses more on the slow burn relationship between the two stubborn leads. The payoff is delicious. There’s one left, Fionn and Rose next share their tale, and I have a feeling I’m going to lose my knickers over the quieter, prone to heartbreak Fionn when we get to know him.All the stars for this one. Absolute joy. Brilliant.QOTD: Here’s what I’ve been wondering, what color scheme will she choose for Fionn’s cover? Orange hues? Green? Red for our doctor? I’m dying to know your thoughts.

Don’t skip the bonus chapter!!!
B&B was my first dark romance experience and I just loved it so much I think it kinda put unfair pressure on this follow up.I liked this book a lot but it didn’t have the same magic for me. It started strong, fizzled in the middle and finished strong. Lachlan is a sweetheart though and I loved him. And Ethel was also gold, we needed more of her.

Not for me
This was seriously lacking compared to the first one. It was 300 pages of nothing and then another 80 of blah… it had it’s moments but not enough.

Loved every second of it
She did it again. From the start to the finish, I was hooked i loved every second of it. The banter between these two is immaculate, and Lark is so freaking funny. I was kicking my feet almost every chapter. And can we please have a moment for Ethel, the f ing bad ass she is.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m in love with Lachlan ❤️
Despite being the sequel of Butcher and Blackbird, it is completely different in several ways from what B&B was. And that has made it even more interesting, that forced proximity, those crazy plans that Lark has to carry out, Lark being Lark and at the same time being that alter ego that no one expects. The spicy scenes 😍 god, if I enjoyed those of B&B those of L&L, despite I think they have been less, they have been spectacular. Definitely can't choose between Rowan and Lachlan 🤣 I have to say that the Bonus scene has left me speechless, dumbfounded, flipping out and I loved it 😏But now I need Fionn's book desperately, that epilogue almost killed me 🥺.Summarizing, this book follows that comedic point we saw in B&B, with the dramas of a couple who clearly didn't know what was in store for them.PS: I was laughing for several minutes at the "that particular unicorn doesn't shit rainbows." thing. Can’t wait for Fionn’s story 😍
