Great, we are looking after a young girl who does not understand any English, so this was a godsend to help her get started with visuals and written studiesHer English picked up really quick, and she enjoys studying with the book as well, an added bonus was there are audio components to compliment the book

As a teacher of English I have been using this pictorial word book 📕 for years and found it to be extremely effective with students regardless of their level as it is packed with manifold topics ranging from geography to health. So there is something for everyone !I highly recommend it .

A family member has recently had a stroke, and during one medical assessment it was noted that the stroke had caused a problem with speech, vocabulary, and short term memory issues. I searched around for a book that covers every day words and more, with easy exercises. This book fitted the bill perfectly, together with some sound bites for some exercises. I would like additional sound bites. We have started going through the book and at this stage of the process, we may have to repeat some lessons to build up on areas that were lost as a result of the stroke. I usually do this on a one to one basis, it is not something she can do by herself.

The main thing I liked was that it's one of the few picture dictionaries which is in English as well as American. As I'm teaching refugees and others without mother tongue English as a volunteer, it's really important to me to have the right spellings, as I don't want to confuse them or have them learning the wrong spellings. If only it were cheaper I'd buy one for each of them! But most of them do not have internet access so I can't get them on-line picture dictionaries - we'll all just have to share mine. I also like the fact that it is nicely laid out. There is an index in the back, and it covers every day subjects that they will need to get by in the UK. Some of the other visual dictionaries look lovely, but cover esoteric science subjects that are the least of their worries if they've come from a traumatic situation. Others are for children, and are useful, but this has much more in it. I really recommend it. (It would also work well for children.)

It is a good enough book,but it is not for beginners. I tried to use it for my beginner's class,but it is the way too difficult. More like elementary.

I liked the pictures which managed to describe complexities of emotions quite well, and grouped topics sensibly, giving opportunities for discussion. It was a useful way to enlarge vocabulary, and I used it for ESOL students improving to intermediate level.

A gift! The book appears to have lots of detail and information (including slang words, including idioms). Good purchase - very pleased, hopefully will be received well by recipient.Update - Received very well indeed by recipient and is very happy! :-)
