Life: My Story Through History―An Autobiography of the Life and Legacy of Pope Francis Hardcover – March 19, 2024

Not having read any books on Pope Francis , I chose to read this to learn more about him and his feelings. This book is broken I to chapters of Major moments in history since 1936 when the Pope was born to the present time. Each chapter introduces the historical moment and following that is the Popes feelings and how it relates to his Priesthood/Papacy. From the outbreak of WW2 when the Pope was a youth in Argentina to 9/11, COVID and present times and problems in the Catholic Church the reader is taken on a History lesson along with a Spiritual lesson for humanity. Pope Francis is a humble, holy man of God with and emphasis on Peace and Love to all and Christ as the redemption of humanity. He wants to change the Church from the rigidity of the past , pointing fingers in condemnation to a Church concentrating on the Christian message of compassion and closeness (p.220). Reading his words in this book leaves no doubt that compassion and closeness is how he lives his life, views the world and conducts his Papacy. Recommended.

I thought that the book would be very religious, and it is, but it is also very human. In this autobiography, Pope Francis tells his own life story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and look forward to coming back to it. God bless the Pope!

Love the writing style of Pope Francis. I have always admired the man and now I admire his writings. His story takes me back to a time before I was born and how World War II affected his life and his family from a child's point of view. Find it fascinating and appreciative of our lives today. I have only started to read this book and look forward to what more I can learn about his future years. Thank you, Pope Francis, for relighting my love of reading books again.

Just received the book today, April 27, 2025, and am looking forward to reading. My review is on packaging of the book. The book is new, but the back of the book was sticky and dirty as if someone dropped it or stepped on it. I took a damp cloth to clean both front and back. Better care needs to be taken when packaging books.I'll give 5 stars for the book as I have no doubt it will be a good read, but I'd give 0 stars for packaging.

Pope Francis through the lens of his own personal history explores his view of the modern Church and how it needs to get back to its roots as a church where the priests serve the people as involved community pastors and not as elites, administrators or doctrinaire police. He makes it clear that the Curia must be reformed and clericalism end for the Church to accomplish its spiritual goals for all humanity.

Don't need to read it to know it's good

Pope Francis is one of us! He does not consider himself above us or better than us. His love for others and his humility should be recognized as an example for all of humanity. This book is easy to read and understand. I recommend this book to all - Catholics or not. It is a real story about a real man trying to bring live and peace to our world.

A great and entertaining read! So awesome to imagine the Holy Father in his early years.
