I would NOT recommend these to anybody for any reason.
The openings that hold the wire ends are shallow and rounded, so the pivot points pop out after the first use and cannot be put back solidly unless you bend the whole structure tight again. This means that if you open the bottle, you will not be able to close it with a tight seal without a great deal of hassle. Actually, once the wire pops out of the hole, the top will only stay in place as long as the bottle isn't disturbed - it will NOT hold ANY pressure at all. I thought, at first, that it was just a fluke manufacturing error, but I have had the same problem with every one of the ones I've handled. I would NOT recommend these to anybody for any reason.

Incredibly Solid Bottles with Very Airtight Seals
VERY solid. Fret not about bottle bombs with these bottles. They are wicked thick and heavy. The seal is tight. Let's just say you accidentally put too much sugar inside and created psycho-mutant-fermentation levels inside the bottle. It won't blow up on you and it won't leak. But when you do pop that seal, do be prepared for a champagne-like explosion and a loud pop. If you aren't sure if you have your sugar levels right, open it over the sink. But the bottom line is the bottles will hold up very well.

Good value, strong bottles, great seals.
Saw many options available that had plastic caps and such, but decided to spend a few extra bucks on this 6-pack with ceramic seals. They came packed very well and the caps are easy to get on and seal very well. I bought them to store homemade ginger beer and so far, so good. I ferment in a different jar on the counter for 3-4 weeks, so these grolsch bottles are intended for short-term storage in my fridge, though I feel pretty confident that they'd do fine for in-bottle fermenting. They're thick and strong and the ceramic/silicon caps are holding up very well.I throw the batch of bottles in the dishwasher when I need to sanitize them, and I wash the ceramic/silicon caps by hand. I found the caps were easy to get on and seal very well. Overall, I think it's been a great value and I'm very happy with these bottles. Will possibly be buying another 6 depending on how other ferments go as we start to add them in rotation to our weekly food prep.

Plastic! NOT ceramic
I bought these because of the ceramic seal I was supposed to get. These are definitely plastic. Also not the full silicone seal advertised. Photos included. I am SO disappointed, especially since these bottles cost considerably more than others. I bought them simply for the ceramic top. Sending back first thing tomorrow morning.

Don't use for Kombucha 2nd fermentation phase.
The seller was very responsive and I had my bottles on time with Prime and my product review does not reflect the seller. First I have to say that I chose these bottles for my Kombucha brewing over less expensive products and products that appeared to be better quality because I appreciated the use of ceramic vice plastic tops and the ceramic tops were advertised to provide max carbonation. The ceramic tops is why I'm giving 2 stars vice 1. During the first time using these bottles on the second stage of Kombucha brewing where I'm adding the flavor and carbonation, I've had 2 of 7 bottles break in less than 24 hours. In fact, one broke shortly after I burped the gas and the other bottles aren't finished, so there might be more casualties to come.. This is the first time I've used these bottles and I've already had 2 break. These bottles might be great for other brewing that contains less carbonation, but for Kombucha, I'm rating this product 2 out of 5.

Do not buy. I returned mine.
I returned all of these as the bails would NOT stay in the shallow holes for them. They popped out every time I tried to seal a bottle. Useless. There are other brands out there that must work better!

Brew Coo Ca Chew Bottles
These are best bottles so far for my kombucha and kiefer brewing. When I was looking for bottles, I looked and looked and even searched for beer bottles at a local liquor store for the swing top bottles, which they had, but were in green, were expensive, and only came in a four pack. Cost analysis, big negative on the purchasing and reusing of liquor store swing top bottles plus their tops were plastic and I wanted ceramic.Okay, second try. I tried at a local shop. They had "swing top bottles" alright. Very pretty blue decorative bottles that you could either put olive oil in or some pretty stuff and show it off. This was not what I was looking for. I needed something with girth, something with heart, something that could hold the life of my brew so that it wouldn't explode or possibly shatter. Again, local shops failed me strike two.I tried going online to other sites, direct sites hoping to find possibly more cost effective ways but alas, from all my wanderings, I kept coming back to Pratico Kitchen's Secure Swing 16 oz Beer Bottles with Ceramic lids coated with silicone. For a 6 pack of bottles and lids $27.99, it was a bit of a hit considering seeing how much others cost but I just kept thinking, "I'm looking for something to last so that I don't have to do this again for awhile and I don't want to risk injury to my family and friends due to breakage." So, Yes, I opted for these and I'm glad that I did. They came well packaged with directions how to place the swing top caps to the bottles. The swing tops are not attached, I assume, so that the ceramic tops will not be damaged in shipping (which was a wise decision). None of the bottles were damaged, which was fantastic; upon inspection, I found that the bottles were heavy, dark, and exactly what I wanted. They were not embellished with any unnecessary decorations (this makes it much easier to clean the bottle on the outside). The only issue that I had was how in the heck was I going to clean the inside of the bottle with a brush. https://www.amazon.com/Beer-Bottle-Brush-Weekend-Brewer/dp/B01E9NVMEG/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 I did find this link if you do decide to buy a brush to clean your bottles. At this time, I have been soaking mine with white vinegar and rinsing and sanitise in the dishwasher cycle without soap as it can kill the brew that I'm making but other than that, it has been working for me at this time.In summary, if you want a well made bottle that has a company guarantees a peace of mind lifetime guarantee on their bottles than you'll be pleasantly surprised with these amber 9 1/2' bottles.
