Product Description Tissues and Issues is the eagerly anticipated new album from Charlotte Church. Heralding a major musical change of direction for Charlotte, the album is a scintillating journey through a whole range of genres and moods. From out-and-out pop anthems to Motown-infused tracks and heartfelt ballads, Charlotte radiates confidence and maturity. Album highlights include first single "Crazy Chick", the personal and anthemic "Finding My Own Way", the intimate "Confessional Song" and the intriguing and addictive "Casualty of Love". By turns exuberant and impassioned, heartfelt and accomplished, the album is the perfect showcase for Charlottes own unique style. "I have grown up", Charlotte says simply. Review When former child star and operatic Voice of an Angel Charlotte Church grew up, we knew things were going to be different. As a feisty 19 year old with a rugby player boyfriend, she's been in and out of the papers every since she discovered boys and alcohol. Tissues and Issues sees Charlotte attempt to cross over from the classical chambers into the pop pond, but were our expectations, dreaming of a pop saviour, simply too high?Unleashing "Crazy Chick" as her debut pop single, it was obvious Charlotte wasn't working with the current trend of putting 80s electro beats behind her music. Instead here was a soulful, confident ass-shaking hairbrush hit. Unfortunately it was a solitary shiny penny gleaming out of a pool of mud.Brimmed to the max with middle of the road ballads, the album is sadly lacking anything clever, special or original and you can't help but wish that collaborators such as Xenomania and Richard X had been picked instead of those who were.Single number 2 "Call My Name" is another motown inspired number, but is sadly little more than "Crazy Chick Part II" (the part without the catchy bit). The same can be said for "Moodswings". "Let's Be Alone" is pretty much the only other upbeat track on the album and here she fuses her classical sounds with middle eastern twinged dance beats. And so, into the ballads... "Easy to Forget" is just that, and its slight urban sound makes it sound like a watered down version of All Saints' "War of Nerves". The frankly dreadful "Even God" sees Charlotte lose all attitude and credibility and is nearly enough to bring any sane listener to tears of boredom or laughter. Only "Fool No More", heavily influenced by Jamelia's Stop, can redeem the 2nd half of the album. You can just imagine Bridget Jones pensively dreaming of her one true love, while listening to this song. There is enough promise in Crazy Chick to make you think that, no matter how bad this album is, one day she will return with a more compelling set of tunes, given a better set of producers and songwriters. So pop pickers, our hopes are dashed this time, but for now let's keep those fingers crossed for a saviour in the form of Sophie Ellis Bextor's 3rd album, or even better, a Billie comeback. --Talia KrainesFind more music at the BBC This link will take you off in a new window

A good album from a wonderful & talented singer.
I have always been a fan of Charlotte's since she first began her career with her lovely classical renditions. It is nice to see she has branched out & now turned to a different style of singing, popular. She has a fantastic voice & this album shows she can switch things up & produce a very good mixture of songs. So good on you Charlotte for having a go at new challenges!

A wise choice.
As someone that has her classical albums I think something needs to be pointed out. Charlotte has made a very wise decision on her change of direction. For people who don't listen to classical music, Charlotte was a very mediocre classical singer. She had fame, purely because she an 'Ok' classical singer at such a young age. She was never anything special. However, what Charlotte can't do in classical, she certainly can do with the pop sound. She obviously had vigorous vocal lessons constantly, with every classical piece she tried (she certainly sounded as if she was struggling). Pop, obviously, is not so high in demanding long high notes and complicated vocal patterns. So guess what? She is a pro with singing pop. She knows how to sing and this album definitely shows that. The classical roots that shine here is in 'Easy Way Out' and 'Confessional Song' when there is a use of an orchestra (incidentally, the best songs on the album). The first two songs threw me off since she didn't seem to be using any vocal talent whatsoever ('Call My Name' and 'Crazy Chick') but then incomes 'Moodswings' which is a very well sung song and it improves there on. 'Crazy Chick' is extremely poor in theory and sounded like a song done by the Mavericks but it's catchy, I guess it has to be heard a few times before you like it. I'm not a huge fan of the pop genre so irritating beats and digital sounds annoyed me accordingly but they are produced with maturity and Charlottes lyric writing - though often free verse - proves to be relative and again mature. Look out for 'Easy Way Out' and 'Confessional Song' when listening to this album. If you like the upbeat sound I suggest 'Let's Be Alone', 'Moodswings' and 'Crazy Chick'. Ones I have given no mention I view as fillers. But that is personal preference is it not? For the people raving that her use of vibrato is a 'classical influence' I suggest you listen to Delta Goodrem and Christina Aguilera, in what day and age would you call them classical? Both have heavy use of vibrato among other pop artists. It's a technique that gives these singers superiority and doesn't sound dull, like Britney Spears or Geri Halliwell.

Great album
When I bought this album it was on a whim - but I am not disappointed. Charlotte has a briliant voice and this album shows it off. Although some of the tracks do show her insecurity she is brilliant.

Stick to your roots charlotte!
this cd is highly dissapointing. i decided to purchase it based on the debut single crazy chick which is undoubtedly fantastic! however this album approaches risky genres of music for charlotte, being a classicly trained singer, this was a big risk, and unfortunatly from the album i can say this hasnt worked at all. In 90% of the songs charlotte struggles to leave behind her classical roots and ends up incorperating a classical voice in rock/pop songs which does niether the song nor her any justice. The only other song (except crazy chick) where charlotte pulls it off is moodswings, however the song itself is poor and lacks any rhythm.im surprised that most of the songs on the album were included as they are poor also. I was highly disappointed with the album and i found that after 1 listen it has been put on my shelf, and will definatly remain there. i think crazy chick will mislead consumers into buying the album, but BUY THE SINGLE, as the album isnt worth it. Charlotte - dont try to be something you arent love! you sing classical music well, u dont sing on this album well, it sounds dreary, dry and your voice is odd in comparison to the styles of music you TRY to sing. i wish this review could have been more poitive. although crazy chick is a wicked song charlotte - well done! more singles like that in the future and a decent album and you may do well, although id be surprised if this album manages to scrape into the top 50 let alone top 10! x x x thanks for listning!

What a voice!
I loved every song on this CD. Her voice is just astounding. You can tell that the words in the songs mean something to her. Same as Back to Scratch.

Charlotte Church from voice of an Angel to voice of a Goddess
I can't believe the negavity this CD is receiving!! Is it that these people have to clean all the wax out of thier ears? Or could it be that they cannot accept the fact that this young lady is becoming a woman! Don't get me wrong I own all of her previous Cd's and they are so Beautiful!!However I can now say my favorite, hands down, is Tissues and Issues...So much beauty ...So much emotion...So much honesty. The more I listen to this CD the more I LOVE IT!!!For those you who are bringing in all the religion issues "LET HE WHO IS WITHOUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE"Charlotte you are a gift from GOD,and just like me,we are finding are own way and if we make mistakes they are ours to make, and you sang it best... LET ME BE ME!!This is just the begining....
