Great Quality!
LOVE this door! It looks fantastic, is very sturdy, has 3 flaps to help ensure insulation. Not difficult to install either. It has a removal door that slides into place on either side (interior, exterior). It’s a bit off-kilter when you slide it up in the open position (don’t know why they didn’t notch both sides of the removal door), so I just leave it off until I want to actually use it. Overall, great quality! I have 20, 25 and 30 pound dogs and they fit just fine!

Awesome and easy to install
I really like this pet door. All metal frame and cover. Doors keep cold air out. Everything I wanted in a pet door at a decent price

Great quality and price and ease of installation. Would recommend highly
Extremely happy with the quality and the ease of installation as this dog door has a fairly wide fit range. Super clean install and it seals up very nicely. Keeps the extremely hot weather out and current cold weather out. Very pleased with this dog door. If I ever need one in the future I would absolutely come back and purchase this again. Great price great quality no complaints whatsoever. Would absolutely recommend this to friends and family.

Works well, taking a while for the dogs to learn to use it
This is a very nice dog door for the wall. I'm not sure how the seller expects the user to install using the hardware provided, given that the butterfly attachments required access to the screw. For a 4" stud wall, that's a really tight fit, although I tried (never intended to use them) I couldn't get the wing open. I suppose if you drilled a larger hole? Not going to do that. No, I used a screw that you put in the wall first, get it to expand on the sheetrock, and then installed. This is made from steel (see magnet attached). I prefer steel as it won't transfer the cold outside to the warm inside easily (as does Aluminum). It's nicely powder coated. I wish I had installed a vertical 2x4. I did install a horizontal one on the bottom. I didn't have a way to attach a vertical 2x4 to the one on the bottom (which took some creative cutting to get it to slide in given the horizontal hole requires rotating the 2x4). I used caulking on the outside (not pictured) of the frame to ensure no water leaks. I installed some stone steps given the outside was too far for our dogs to jump up to reach the door, as well as too far for them to fall. I have a Dachshund / Terrier mix, and a smaller Irish Doodle (just a puppy). Both dogs have been in & out several times. The older dog doesn't like this door, even though it's easier on his short legs. The puppy jumps in and out at will when she wants to. Other times she's hesitant. I believe because of the 3 doors, the middle one being opaque. Can't see? Hesitation. Unless she wants to, then she's all in and it's quick. She's learned to paw at one of the corners, then her nose fits easily. I suspect that after a time the dogs will both go in & out with ease. We just have to be patient. The 3 doors with 2 having magnetic "latches" allow for very good insulation. There's a steel door that can be slid in place on the inside or outside. If outside anyone outside can open. My 10 year old granddaughter checked, she couldn't fit through. A younger child if they put their arm through with head first might fit. Overall not concerned about that. The steel door has a spring mechanism to hold it up ... meaning the door doesn't need a home. I will say that I got very lucky, as the stud I attached to under the window allows just enough room to clear the window trim. Barely. I should have checked more carefully on the placement. It works, therefore no worries. I could have resolved by cutting a larger hold horizontally, but then the door may not cover? The wings for covering the hole are quite generous. I made it a fairly tight fit. The doors are replaceable. They are screwed into place. If they get warn, you can purchase another one. I plan to purchase another steel door to allow locking on the inside or outside without having to move the door. The dogs have already learned that sometimes they can't come inside (when the door is locked). They'll get used to it. Overall very happy with this purchase, as is my wife. Now we can proceed with potty training ... getting the puppy to go out on her own when she needs to. If you're getting this for a puppy, there's the challenge of not knowing how tall your dog will be, given that's not a fixed thing. The top has over an inch of clearance, whereas the bottom has more like an inch. It would be possible to remove the door, cut a slightly larger vertical hole, and move it. If you needed to move it further (due to unexpected dog growth), then wall patching inside & out would be required. The key point being the dog needs to go through comfortably at the shoulder, not their head (which bows down when going through). Update: Added final interior & exterior pictures

Great door- but read this if you live somewhere it gets below 30 degrees
I bought this doggy door for my 3 Labrador retrievers so they can take themselves outside. This was the best door I could find without spending $5-600+. It seems pretty well made and durable. I did have to return the first one as the corner got bent during shipping. I live in PA - so weather here is mostly cold and rainy. It was important to me to find a door that was energy efficient. There’s nothing energy efficient with a hole in the side of your house- but you try to find the closest thing to it. I had my dad who is a contractor install the door for me so I can’t attest to the installation part, but will report there was minimal swearing and only took about an hour to complete. Extra insulation was padded around the frame of the door and framed into the wall so it won’t budge over time and use. Pros: Built well The magnets are pretty strong Door flaps are thick Size is very big Looks very clean Cons: The metal door- why is it only notched on the one side beats me. I will say I’m glad it came with the hardware (the thing with the spring that holds the door up by the notch) as we just added it to the other side with a second notch so the door isn’t crooked, I added a photo. Bonus- it adds a layer of security as the door can only be opened from the inside. Unless you break it from outside in. The magnets seem to not want to stick when they get a little dirty, so I have to wipe them with a wet cloth from time to time. Things I can’t really comment on at this time, but will update after a few months of use: The door flaps- yes I had them as a pro, but being in PA in January it does get pretty cold. I noticed the flaps get very stiff and with a breeze will not magnetize and cold air flows in. You can see this door was build in a closet, so I’m able to close the door and not feel the draft, but if you plan on buying this door please keep that in mind. It could be that after some use this may not be a problem as the material stretches and becomes more fluid- but it’s at least worth mentioning for the time being. Update- June 11th 2024 I have returned! It has been well over a year since I had this doggy door installed. This has been my primary use of letting my dogs outside every day since install. A few key takeaways since my initial review- The flaps have not gotten fluid with use and age, so when a breeze comes along or when it gets cold, they do open up and air does come in. If this is a big deal for you, I’d recommend getting stronger magnets to help the flaps stay closed. This has been easy to clean over time in terms of mud and dust. Nothing has broken down and it’s holding up incredibly well over the use it’s endured in the last year and a half. I should mention, I have 3 Labrador retrievers ranging in size from 60 to 95 lbs, the door is more than big enough for them to use. As someone who is 5’7” and 190 lbs, I can crawl through this door. This was purely for review reasons and I definitely did not accidentally lock myself out of my house… Overall- the door has held up to my expectations and I’m looking forward to many years of use and freedom for my dogs to relieve themselves or sunbathe. By no means is it perfect, but for the price, quality, and rigorous Lab testing that this has been put through it is well worth its price point.

Highly Recommend! I Wish I Had A Metal Dog Door Sooner!
I had been buying the plastic brand dog door for about 13 years now and in that time I had to replace the entire thing 4 times as well as replace the flaps, which seemed to warp or tear in no time at all, just about every year and at times twice a year which always annoyed me. Now granted I have always had big dogs, along with my now 15 year old Chi, but it was a “large” size dog door so I expected it to hold up to said large size dogs. So when the plastic frame broke yet again this time around I happened to come across this one and decided to give it a shot after reading all the positive reviews and especially because it’s metal and not plastic. I can’t comment much on the installation as we already had the hole for the tunnel to go through the wall which is the most difficult part of the install imo and exactly why I had a contractor do it 13 years ago when the first one was installed. Also, because my own personal handyman hubby is excellent in just about every department, but not so much when it comes to drywall/woodworking stuff. Another plus for me is that this dog door is the same size as the old plastic one which made choosing it that much easier. It’s almost as if they knew I would be fed up with replacing the plastic one 😄 That being said the rest of the install wasn’t very difficult at all. I took tips from other reviewers about using longer screws for added stability as we already had it framed out with 2x4’s and had reinforced underneath the tunnel since at the time we installed the first through wall dog door we had Kane dog who was a 105 lb Bully rescue that we sadly lost to cancer 2 years ago and who I miss him every single day even though we have since welcomed two new rescues into our lives. We now have a 95 lb Great Pyrenees/Bully mix and a 55 lb Belgian Malinois/Staffordshire mix who will be putting this large dog door to the test. We also put insulation all around the tunnel, added good quality expandable weatherstripping and of course put a good sealant around the edges of the exterior side which is against vinyl siding. Also, the flaps feel thicker and heavier as well as have a stronger magnetic closure so hopefully I won’t be replacing them every year, but time will tell on that and I will be sure to update if it’s even remotely like the old ones. I haven’t had it long enough to comment on the stability of it, again time will tell, but at least I no longer have to worry about the frame cracking and breaking which leaves me very hopeful. It also wouldn’t be fair for me to speak of the energy efficiency yet because I rarely close the doors and my basement is not well insulated so it’s always cold on the unfinished side where the dog door is, but I will come back and update my review later as I am planning on using the doors now since the dogs aren’t going out as often with winter here and being forced to have unhappy walks in the freezing rain. Such pampered pups! I also purchased a second door so I could close off both sides which I think will help greatly with the efficiency, especially overnight. These metal doors are WAY better than the plastic one that came with the old dog door and have a far superior locking mechanism. Not that it would prevent someone from kicking them in if they so dared, I don’t believe any through wall dog door systems are tough enough to withstand that, but that’s when the actual dogs would come in handy. I always put something very heavy like a refrigerator (no joke) which is not easily moved through that small of a space in front of the door when the dogs go on vacation with us and I’ve never had a problem, even with the plastic door. Overall I am very happy with the switch and feel this through wall dog door system will hold up much better than the plastic brand I spent so much money on since having it and therefore I feel my purchase was well spent especially during these difficult times where most of us, at least I am, are spending less on nonessential items. I highly recommend it!

It’s Worth It
This dog door is worth it. First of all if you’ve decided to take on having a dog door, it’s a game changer. It isn’t without its challenges, but that’s a story for another day. This is Door Dog #2 in this household. I’ve had it two months and I keep promising myself that I’ll return to write this review. I’ll admit, I tried to get the same dog door that I installed the first time. I was satisfied with it, until I had this unit to compare it with. First of all this dog door has a keyless type lock, for a lack of a better term, that you cannot finagle your way through on the exterior side. I could outsmart DD #1 if I got locked out of the house. And somehow I slept at night. I guess I figured anybody dumb enough to come through a dog door the size of which I had deserved whatever they got. I sleep a LOT better at night with door! It is a serious, bona fide door! Not a hard piece of plastic like other DDs. This DD has a smooth metal slide that allows the DD to glide up and down. You’re not taking this DD out of its frame! The second biggest improvement is that it has three flaps. My previous DD had two flaps, and they can’t hold a candle to the fit this one has. Its magnetic holds are super strong. These flaps hug. It’s siding preventing bugs from getting in. Now I’m sure I’ll find an errant stink bug one day and freak out, but I’d be shocked if anything made it through these barriers. If it’s your dog’s first DD it may take a little bit more cajoling to teach them entering/exiting. Again, worth every moment of training/money. Con: and it’s an acceptable trade off. I have the DD below a window in my laundry room. When the DD is raised part of the window is covered (~6”) but….so what. The pros far outweigh this con. In summary I would purchase the same DD.

This is a great doggy door! It has held up the best out of all I’ve purchased. Great quality, sturdy, keeps the hot/cold out, and easy to install. Would highly recommend it!
