fan a must
Best propane garage heater ever. And it took me forever to find a replacement after my old one broke. I went and bought 2 stoves before finding this one and had to take them both back since the didn't do the job. This stove is even better that before since it has been 5 years since I had to replace my old one. I also bought the power transformer since it is for my garage (450 sqft.) and it works great and a 20lb propane tank last over a week since 2 hours and I can shut if off because it gets so warm. never buy one without a fan. They just don't work as well.

Sturdy...
Exactly what I was looking for. Easy setup. I got the electric adapter so I wouldn't have to putz with batteries. 1 panel lit keeps you warm sitting in front of it. Both panels lit warms up my 2 car garage comfortably.

More features than listed in the Advertisement
First off - this has an electric start not the Piezo sparking mechanism. I couldn't get the heater to start so I sent it back. When they replaced it (2 days later - yes that fast) I still couldn't get it started. I looked at the directions (My wife made me) that stated to install a battery - I looked at the box and it said "Now includes an Electronic Start". (hand slap on forehead, my wife was right)Also - this unit includes an electric fan, to circulate the air, this isn't listed in the advertisement. Also, Mr. Buddy discontinued the fan on their heaters in 2024 due to "Import Tariffs" . So this will likely be the last option to get one with a built in fan. I have tested that too - and it works really nice.I also purchased the refil kit and the Fuel-Keg 1lb tanks from Mr. Heater (at Tractor Supply) and those are nice to fit into the pouches on the bag. My heaters (I bought the portable buddy from Tractor Supply and the Big Buddy here) are ready to go camping. For the record - I bought a Portable Buddy about 5 years ago (red) and always carried it with me on my hunting trips - but never used it. This year, I was in a shooting blind with a friend and decided to pull it out. What a game changer! I kicked myself for not using it sooner. Of course somebody stole it out of the back of my truck during my trip and that is why I just bought two more. Now I can keep one CHAINED in the back of my truck, and I can keep the big one in my 8person tent!I wish I was an influencer - because I'd try to get Mr. Heater to pay me to tell folks how much I love this product.Good luck.

Emergency Heat Source
Safe, reliable emergency heat source. Bought one for son for his hunting blind and six for southern WV flood victims.

Some upgrades and some downgrades from the regular Mr Buddy Heater.
We bought the Big Buddy when we discovered our regular sized one was not powerful enough to keep us warm on a surprise -9°f snowy camping trip. This is a great upgrade from the standard sized Mr Buddy heater, and I don't doubt that it will do its job when required.During our shakeout, our winter tent was kept so warm inside that even on the lowest setting we had to keep turning it off while the rain pounded the tent outside. Two 1 lb. tanks lasted almost all night on the lowest setting with a low of 38°f outside; we didn't need to switch the empties until early dawn. We are contemplating the hose & connector for our 20lb tank in order to last a whole night without the need to switch tanks, especially if it is colder. It is sturdy, a bit heavy, and does not tip easily at all. I expect it will last as well as our first buddy, which is still going strong after 3 years. I especially like the double tank option as well as the three heat settings.I deducted one star for 3 cosmetic/design reasons that make this product more annoying to use than the regular buddy, but otherwise I'm happy with how well this heater works, and we will keep it for our winter camping needs. The first reason is the molded handle, it takes up too much room. On the smaller heater, the handle can be folded down and stored in a smaller area. This makes the bigger buddy unnecessarily much bigger and taller for both packing and storage. I prefer the folding handle on the regular buddy and wish this had one too.Second is that there is no piezo, you will need a battery to ignite the heater. I know electric is supposed to be a better ignition, but that seems excessive for this size appliance. I find the need to bring extra batteries camping frustrating as we are trying to do without more things. A piezo ignition would have been fine on this without the need for more items to keep charged.Third is that in order to use the fan, you will need 4x D batteries, or access to a 6v standard wall outlet. We travel with a portable power bank with a converter, so keeping the fan on was not a problem for us using the provided cord. However, the cord is thin and weak while the plug itself is blocky and heavy so it's unwieldy to use. Also it doesn't fit anywhere, the plugs don't even fold away, so storing it is a problem too. With all the power saving electronics out there these days, it seems like they could have used more modern solution for the fan. Nobody uses D batteries anymore, and every modern electronic device should have USB accessibility for portable power solutions. Especially for items intended for camping use, this should have been a no-brainer. This is a big fail and unnecessary complication for such a simple thing.Despite the mild annoyances, we were more than happy with our shakeout weekends. Next time we find ourselves surprised by a snow storm we will be much better prepared, and we are excited to try it again.

Needs batteries and undocumented
There's no information about this heater on the Mr. Heater website. I can't say for certain this product is even real. I tried using it and the pilot won't light. It turns out it takes batteries in the back. It doesn't say what kind of batteries it needs! The website doesn't list the product so I can't download a manual. I can't find any information on how to make the darn thing work. Whatever batteries it takes are enormous. They look even larger than D batteries. I'm so upset I'm going to need to spend more cold nights because of this thing.
