CREE XML XM-L 3x T6 LED 4000 Lumens SkyRay-3t6 Flashlight Torch

This is a really high performance torch one of the best I've used in a long time, I use xtar 3400 mah batteries to power it giving it 7.2 volts, and I've got a rapid charger to charge them quickly when I'm ready to go. If you want a high power torch look here you will not be disappointed.

This torch is one of the best I have come across, brilliant white beam lights up an impressive area, wont have much use for the strobe and Morse effect I hope but all in all a very good torch well worth the money.The biggest drawback is that you cannot adjust the beam so although you get a very good white beam it diminishes over long distances and it is so powerful that it can go through batteries quite quickly when on full power.If the torch beam could be adjusted it would score full marks every time.

Being a bit of a torch Junkie I can't resist a new "more powerful" torch, especially at a good price.The good.Well Made, little swarf to clean off.Has Lanyard hole.3 of them, reasonable size.The neutral.Is no where near 4000 lumens. With the same 3600 mah 18650 batteries as my 1200 lumen model, it's close. As a guess it's somewhere between 800 and 1000 lumens. It's definately not, 4 x brighter than my 800 lumen torch!The bad.Didn't come with lanyard, so fitting one through one of the three holes is going to be interesting.Brightness - see above.Modes- It seems to have full on and 10% /25%, which whilst ok for saving the battery, is a little low. I'd rather 100% 60 and 30 which most of the other torches seem to have.Why 2 stars, well there are cheaper torches that produce 800 lumens and they are less money, if they want more than that, either tell people how to get 4000 lumens out of it, or be more realistic in the description.

Don't buy this torch. Superb and powerful when it actually works but both of ours broke within 2 weeks - around 10 uses each.

The torch is okay. The lack of batteries with it was not. The batteries were difficult to obtain and those that were available had reviews saying they were not any good.

After using this flashlight/torch for a few hours in my place of work, which is extremely dark in most areas, I found the brightness of this torch to be above superb, Crystal clear Ice-white beam with an extremely long range for a torch that has no focus/zoom capability. I would recommend using the 18650 Li-Ion 4000 Mah Batteries (Black and Gold) for this torch. It is a power hungry little thing. Also the Ultrafire batteries seem to work better then the Trustfire ones. This torch does not come with any fancy packaging, just a plain box with the torch only inside. What you recieve: This torch has 2 chassy bodies screw fixed together to house both batteries, The head and back (with switch) both screw off for cleaning. This Torch has 5 modes, 100% / 50% / 20% / Strobe / SOSOn the middle beam of 50% it is still brighter then most torches and gives a good clear view of where you need to go.

OK, lets get one thing straight, there is no way this is 4000 lumens. Possibly several hundred but no way 4000. Not even on a good day!So, now that's out of the way.Its aluminium, the quality of the machining is good, it has rubber O rings on the switch and LED assembly.It has 3 LEDS and takes 2 18650 batteries. It comes with a charger and 2 batteries. They are marked as ultrafire and are probably clones. I will do some current tests at some point to test them. I ordered a spare set of batteries, they are also marked ultrafire and are totally different from the ones supplied.The end cap/switch has several modes. Hard press to click it on, hard press to click it off, however, if you soft press, you get 2 additional levels of brightness, a rapid strobe and finally a ...---... SOS repeating flash. When turned off and left a minute, it will revert to the default on at full brightness condition. It IS very bright to be fair and a blue/white light, however, a friend who ordered exactly the same thing as me, from the same company has a warmer, slightly less blue light from his. Its a minor issue but worth note. The brightness of the two torches is identical. All in all, this appears to be a reasonably high quality item but don't let the 4000 lumen swing you....

I had difficulty with the batteries as it's not made clear when ordering that run-of-the-mill batteries don't fit. I had to order the batteries and the charger separately which is a slightly more expensive and time consuming way of arriving at a flashlight you can use than buying the full package inclusive of batteries and charger.
