Great Density for Improved Acoustics ~ Easy to Apply ~ Stylish ~ 12-inch x 12-inch would be Better
What I like:The UMIACOUSTICS 12 Pack Acoustic Panels ("16 inches x 16 inches" -- actually 15.7 x 15.7 inches) have contributed greatly to my continued efforts to improve my overall acoustics in my home office. I have applied these panels onto the wall, which is directly behind my back as I listen to music. That same wall is where the mid and high frequencies from my front tower speakers ultimately land, which is known as the location of "first reflections." Controlling first reflections is by far, the key focus point when attempting to limit echoey reverberations within one's acoustical environment. Rogue low-end frequencies from subwoofers can also pose a challenge in creating a quality acoustical environment. However, the primary purpose (in my opinion) of these particular panels covered in this review, is for the goal of reducing the mids and highs, rather than reducing the rogue low-end issues. That's not to say that these panels will not help with that situation, but I personally installed these panels for the purpose of keeping the mids and highs at bay, and they are doing a great job of that, indeed. Applying the panels was quite simple, but I recommend not only cleaning the wall with a clean, damp cloth prior to applying, but also taking a few minutes and planning your placement of the panels on a scratchpad, in advance of affixing them to the wall. Thus far, the panels are staying in place just fine. The (almost) half-inch thick panels are plenty dense enough to make a notable difference in overall acoustics, but at the same time, they are flat enough to not be an eye sore. What I don't like:It's more of a sidenote than a dislike, but I'd prefer that the industry would agree to just make all panels 12-inch x 12-inch, as it just makes it easier for those of us who are constantly adding these panels to our listening environment. Most of the panels I have worked with in the past have usually been 12-inch x 12-inch, and I prefer that measurement as it just makes it easier for my challenged mathematics in dealing with room dimensions.I would order this item again.

Very attractive panels. Thin and easy to hang, but they offer minimal sound absorption.
These panels do not offer much in terms of sound reduction. They do look very nice though. While they provide a very slight reduction in high-frequencies, they are not effective compared to Rockwool or Owens Corning 703 based panels. Even thin acoustic foam provides much better sound absorption. I use all of these products in various parts of my home for home theater and music recording purposes. Do not let that scary you away from using these panels for the right use case. My wife put these behind her desk and I do think they provide an attractive backdrop for video calls. They help reduce some of the ring in the room when on the phone, though it is a minor difference, it does still help. The panels DO NOT come with any adhesive strips, though I put a picture of some which I purchased separately. They worked well and held the panels up with no issues. Go into purchasing these panels with realistic expectations and I think you'll be happy.

These are fantastic!
These work great! The color is tasteful and has a mod flare to the pattern. And the adhesion is great as well! So easy to install!! No complaints at all!

Nice looking and easy to install, but
They look nice, not sure how well the sound quality works yet. Adhesive backing makes for an easy install. But just to clarify, these are 15-3/4" X 15-3/4". NOT 16 X 16. So if you're like me and putting them on the basement ceiling, be prepared for a gap.

Work well and look nice, when put in the right pattern
These are nice acoustic tiles. They do the job well - if you hold one up to the side of your head you can definitely hear a difference. The design is nice enough, with one exception. They didn't chamfer the edges, so if you want a seamless straight up and down look then you can't get that. But the 90 degree rotated look we went for I think looks nice still, so it didn't end up being a huge deal. Adhesion was good. It feels like some sort of double sided tape on the back of it. You do have to be a little careful that the tape doesn't separate from the panel as you're peeling off the backing but overall they went up smoothly and easily.

Made a portable vocal booth. Love it.
The media could not be loaded. I got these with the intention of putting them on my studio walls, but ended up making an awesome portable vocal booth. These panels do a great job as acoustic treatments. They definitely help with room echo, which is what they are made for. They are acoustic panels, not sound proof panels. Acoustic panels are meant to help with sound reflecting off of walls and surfaces and these do that well.Check the video with my review for a sample of before and after with my vocal booth. I was just using my phone, but you can really tell a difference.I really like how big the panels are and really like the material. I have cats and cat hair has been an issue on other foam in the past. These don't have that issue. In fact, my cats were sitting in one of the panels while I was putting them up, but you can't tell.As others have said, make sure you have a plan of how you want these BEFORE you stick them up. Maybe get some long pin thumbtacks to test out placement before sticking them. If your in an apartment it might be a good idea to get those velcro straps that come clean off the wall. The price is great and these look super professional. Def a product for you if your wanting to do acoustic treatment in your room or studio.

Good adhesive, good echo reduction
I found setup quite easy. I decided to space them out a bit to improve my sound absorption coverage, since I only have the 12 panels. They certainly helped reduce echo on my mic, but didn't reduce outside noise coming in very much. That's fine for me, the echo is the bigger concern. They probably would have done an even better job if they weren't flat, but being flat can make them work in awkward areas on on doors.I would recommend most people to buy at least two packs, as 12 panels isn't enough to properly cover even small rooms.

Great acoustic panels
These acoustic panels are fantastic. I installed these in my office where there is quite a bit of echo, and while there still is a bit of echo, these panels alone were able to solve the majority of the issues with echoing in the room. My microphone actually sounds better since there is less echo in the room, making my voice sound deeper and clearer, and not as tinny. They adhere well to painted walls once they are cleaned of dust and debris, and don't weigh much as well. They're also pretty large which is nice to cover a decent space inside a room.

Fair way to reduce echo without breaking the bank
Like thinner acoustic panels like these (remember, they’re less than half an inch deep), don’t expect to trap bass or to drastically change your room acoustic for the best. They’re meant as a nice medium to lower echo, reverb or most other sound reflection that might be affecting your home theater or recording studio experience, while still being cost effective. On that front, a single pack alone will not be enough unless your room is either small or was specifically designed as a studio or home theater with proper room ratios and no windows, but even there, I’m positive that 20 square feet will not be enough for most.Still, this is effective and better than nothing. Plus, it’s relatively easy to install. Just make sure to clean your walls surface first. Oh, and once it’s installed, you’ll have a hard time removing these without ripping your paint off, so better to plan your design first!
