my gosh... what a great reel
This hits the sweet spot for surf-fishing along the coast of the Pacific, and lake fishing. Looove how smooth the action is... just fantastic.

I’ve used Stradics for years. These were a good price so I couldn’t pass them up.

Don’t buy
Product was horrible. The drag system simply did not work and reeling in the rod was awful. I have used 20+ year old rusty reels and they were still significantly easier to reel in than this. If I had to take a guess, then I would suspect it takes around 4lb of force to crank this reel even a single time.

Well built, but…
The quality is great but the design; it needs adjustment. The stem is too short and and makes working the bail while keeping it clear of the hand and fingers used to grip the rod/reel is challenging. I found that I had to adjust my grip to keep the bail from hitting my middle finger when casting. I don't have this problem with any other reel I own (I own many).

Amazing reel
Can't go wrong with Shimano. Such a nice smooth reel. I usually get Penn reels but the smoothness of this reel can't be beat.

Shimano Stradic 2500SHG 2023
I have an older white Stradic 2500FG that is awesome but this one is better internally with trickled down Stella gears plus other internals such as Infinity drive which helps freespool and handle tension when working lures under heavy drag, upgraded water resistance and line management. The only thing I wish Shimano would add is carbon fiber drags for the smaller reels and possibly a extra deeper spool, other than that they are pretty flawless. This reel is exceptionally smooth.

I loaded them with 8lb 832 suffix. The spool shape and depth are perfect. Spend the money!
I have owned about everything and this is the best spinning real I have ever owned. Spend the money! These reels are from the same Cyberdine factory that the terminator's are made at. SERIOUSLY HAPPY!
