Smart, stylish and sea-worthy!!
Smart, better looking in the flesh and stylishly presented this is a quality item and the only slight niggle over the fastening being a bit stiff meaning the clasp is tight and can be a wee bit challenging to open and close only brings it down to a 4.5* watch. The dial is clear and easy to read with the black, the fit is good for average wrist size and it feels like it will last ... plus it has some great length guarantees. The big extra selling point is the waterproof, underwater usage so a great looking watch that is also practical for outdoors. I think most men will be very happy with this as a gift.

Rugged & stylish!
With its rugged design & thick metal cover & strap, this watch exudes more masculinity than Tom Jones in the '70's! There's no doubt that this is a solid beast, which has been built to last & is much heavier on my wrist than my other watches. In addition, the dark design is very stylish. While the dark colours mean that it takes more than just a glance to read the time in daylight, it's actually easier to read the darker it gets. It's easier to read in dim artificial lighting & even easier to read in the dark, as the tiny gas lights shine strongly, illuminating the hands & indicate where the numbers are. These irradiate in various colours, which looks really good, too.I wasn't familiar with Luminox before getting this. Their branding centres around their watches being used by Navy SEALs & the like. Other models in this range are designed for different outdoor pursuits & this one is apparently intended for divers & therefore features a diving bezel. Apparently it's a watch you can rely on while submerged in ice-covered waters; I'm not committed enough to reviewing to test that particular claim! But it is my watch of preference not only when outside - either doing outdoor jobs or just out walking - but also on nights out, where its stylish design & it being easier to read in the dark or in artificial light comes into its own. In that way, it's a great all-rounder & I'm very pleased with it.One thing to watch out for is that when setting the time & date, the crown needs to be turned anti-clockwise before pulling it out - once for the date & twice for the time. Having it do this is apparently necessary for the water-proofing. In regards to the battery, the manual which came with it is a general one, which covers all Luminox models. It says that they either come with a 1.5 volt or Lithium 3 volt battery; the former lasting approximately 18-36 months & the latter 36-72 months. But it doesn't state anywhere on the watch which of these this model has. There is some information on the back cover (black text on a black background & this time, difficult to read in any lighting conditions) but it doesn't say anything about the battery. My other watches are both kinetic, so having the battery replaced in a watch is not something I've ever needed to do.Overall, I'm impressed with its looks & durability, plus how clear it is to see in the dark. The only drawbacks are the lack of clarity surrounding the battery life & that it's not entirely clear in daylight, so telling the time takes a second or two longer for my brain to process than it does with my other watches. Otherwise, I like it a lot.At the time of writing, Amazon's picture of the box differs from the one mine came in, so I've included a couple of photos.

Quality hiding beneath the minimalistic design
Luminox make a range of watches with a military theme as the basis for its various designs. The range comprises four categories of activity - SEA, LAND, AIR and SPACE. This 3252 model is part of the SEA category, within which there are several sub categories, this one being in the Navy Seals range.Luminox watches have an ‘always visible’ technology built into the face and hands which uses tritium instead of phosphorescence to enable visibility in the dark. Phosphoresce is the normal ‘glow in the dark’ as commonly used with children’s toys whereas tritium is a radioactive hydrogen isotope which gives a constant glow for up to 25 years without the need for recharging by exposure to light. This technology may not be necessary to the normal, non-military, user of such watch but it certainly adds to its prestige and exclusivity. The appearance of the 3252 BO is low key and very inconspicuous. It is entirely black, non-reflective steel in construction, including bracelet. The black coating is PVD (physical vapour deposition) and as such will ensure a long lasting and tough non-wear finish to the stainless steel. The BO initials mean ‘Black Out’ so this subtle appearance is intended, and despite the black theme it’s surprisingly easy to read the time using the tritium technology in the hands and face dial markings. It can be seen close-up but is invisible from more than a few feet distance. The watch is heavy (200g), solid and tough. The case diameter is 45mm and 14mm thick so it’s not an obtrusively large watch. The face dial bears a small non-tritium date window, the case bezel is unidirectional rotating, and the case glass has an anti-reflecting coating to reduce glare and unwanted reflections. Water resistance is quoted in the specification as 200m (660ft).This is a high quality watch, built in Switzerland which should last many years of (civilian) service. Its attractiveness lies in its subtle and understated design.

Soddisfatto dell'acquisto!
