Tate & Lyle's Fairtrade Granulated Sugar, 1000 g

I’ve tried a bunch of different brands of granulated sugar for my tea and this is by far the best and doesn’t leave a lingering aftertaste like some other brands. Amazon always have it on offer for a great price and they bag each individual packet you buy so if the packet gets loose or anything the sugar is in the plastic bag not all over your kitchen floor.

I use this mostly for normal kitchen jobs like sweetening tea, making simple bakes, and the odd batch of biscuits, so it has gone through a fair bit of everyday use rather than just sitting in the cupboard looking worthy. It is just a standard bag of granulated sugar, but it is a good reliable one. The grains are even, it pours cleanly, and it dissolves well in hot drinks without leaving that gritty bit at the bottom if you give it a proper stir. I have also used it in sponge cakes and it has behaved exactly as it should.I also like that it is Fairtrade, which makes it feel like a slightly better choice when I am buying a cupboard staple anyway. The only reason I would not call it perfect is the packaging. The paper bag is fine until you open it, then it becomes one of those things that never seems to sit neatly again unless you decant it into a jar. Apart from that, it is a solid kitchen basic that does the job well and is easy to buy again without much thought.
