Updated: ELAC C6.2 vs C5.2 vs unifi Center
UPDATED:After performing an A/B comparison between the ELAC Debut 2.0 C5.2 and the ELAC Debut 2.0 C6.2 I honestly couldn’t hear a difference between the two. Please note, I am running the centers with ELAC Debut 2.0 F5.2 Towers and Dual Subs. I think the main difference between the two centers is the physical size as the C6.2 is significantly larger and may take up some of your TV space. The true match for the F5.2s might be the UniFi 2.0 center as it is a true 3 way center channel which matches the 3 way F5.2s. But the unifi center is also significantly more in terms of cost. Based on my ears I would pick an ELAC center channel that best fits in your system, in terms of physical dimensions and is in your budget as you will not be disappointed with any of these centers channels!I was in the market to upgrade my current Klipsch RP soundstage (LR RP8000f towers and RP404C center, the largest models in the Klipsch Reference Premier series). So I recently demo’d a lot of different soundstages (and effect channels) and have over 20 years of experience in doing so. I am just your friendly AV enthusiast looking for the best bang for the buck in a 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos system, I can’t afford to keep up with the high end models audioholics often reviews and own for personal use. That being said, I’ve sound tested the following Center Channels and thought this may be helpful. The following were evaluated: ELAC Debut 2.0 C6.2, Klipsch RP-404C, Polk Audio Signature Elite ES35 Slim Center Channel Speaker, and the Polk Audio Reserve Series R350 Slim Center Channel. PLEASE note that all centers were correctly auditioned with their matching Left and Right channel speakers (by brand and series) to give the best comparison review. I found all soundstages to have pros and cons, but which is the best bang for the buck that is affordable and sounds the best? I am sticking with the ELAC Debut 2.0 for my soundstage and using the C6.2 center with the F5.2 towers. Why? The sound emitting from the C6.2 is accurate, smooth, and natural, no artificial warmth or brightness is added and that’s what I love most about the ELAC Debut 2.0! My favorite part of the ELAC C6.2 center channel was the fact it had the best overall dialogue clarity too! I think the magic behind Elac is that they don’t advertise and they care more about high quality crossovers and whats under the hood.Caution, this Center channel is HUGE! Yes, since the center channel is the most important channel I went with the C6.2 center rather than the C5.2 and stuck with the more affordable F5.2 towers. I would have loved to get the F6.2 towers but they weren’t in my price range. Im only powering the Elac Center Channel with a 90 watt monolith m7100x amp and took my time breaking it in the correct way, for 30-40 hours at Full Range per the manufacturer’s recommendations, which you don’t know what condition speakers you’ll get if they’re used! If you want to invest in high quality great gear I would definitely recommend the ELAC Debut 2.0 setup, as pictured.UPDATED: I have had this ELAC Debut 2.0 soundstage for over a year now and love it! I am so glad I sold my Klipsch RP speakers and upgraded to the ELACs! I have since then invested in ELACs Atmos toppers and ceiling speakers as well. Which do a great job adding immersion! One, I enjoy listening to music a lot which makes the ELACs take off! Listening to music on horn driven Klipsch speakers just isn’t a fun experience. And finally I prefer the ELACs over the Polks because the Polks I tested were very expensive and lackluster. At least Klipsch has a horn driven tweeter to add “vertical immersion” I couldn’t find any pros behind the Polks as ELAC just did everything right by hiring Andrew Jones to design their great speakers and I think Polk is still figuring things out maybe? As I also tried Polks XT towers with 8” bass radiators and was completely disappointed. Im shocked they used radiators instead of woofers and bass ports.

Great value!
I recently upgraded the front speakers of my surround system to ELACs. I’m very happy with that decision. This center speaker is a beast! I paired it with the B6.2 bookshelf speakers. I was afraid the C6.2 would be too big. This C5.2 is quite large but it fits nicely without having to raise the tv too much. Sound quality is outstanding connected to my Onkyo TX-NR 686. The new Debut 3.0 series has a more modern look but with the price reduction the 2.0 cannot be beat! I also really like the front ported design of these as my room requires placement very close to the wall. That reduces distortion. If you’re on the fence, give these a try

Mind blowing sound stage at last!
For last 30 years I’ve used 5.1 surround sound in a box with small center channels. Then upgraded all around to Sony str-an1000 avr, dual Sony SW 300 subs, and Elac DB62 front speakers with Monoprice Height and rear surround speakers. Center upgraded to highly regarded Polk ES 35 with 6x3” combo mid/bass. The Polk ES 35 brought much needed clarity and volume but only after installing the matching Elac DC62 center channel with the 2x6.5” mid/ bass did I experience what I’ve been missing all these years. The Elac DC62 will completely change your sound experience. It now fills up my living room with warm, beautiful voices and music while the remaining 6 speakers and 2 subs provide complementary sound. This Elac simply takes over, providing what seems like 80% of the sound.Even if you don’t have room below your TV, don’t skimp with a low profile center channel. Go big, and get matching/balanced front, center and left speakers for your movies and musical needs.I used an adjustable wood platform found at most gyms and purchased of Amazon as my top speaker shelf. This platform has rubber footings and a lip to ensure my center channel remains secure. My Sony AVR receiver has an auto calibration that accounts for heights and locations for each of my 7 speakers and 2 subs.
