Doing the heroes justice
A superhero movie done right. I do not have great hope for this movie, Batman Vs Superman was not got, Wonder Woman was not good, This one they got everything right. They gave all the characters enough screen time, and made everyone useful enough that nobody was left out. Also a return was done very well, and every hero in this movie could get their own movie based on this.Since the death of Superman in the last movie the DC universe has become a darker and more hopeless place. Now a threat to the whole planet has returned can 5 heroes (used to working alone) team up to fill the gap left by one Superman? I have to say as much as I was worried about Ben Affleck being Batman, he plays the older (The Dark Night Returns) version of the character perfectly. I also like tough guy Jason Momoa playing Aquaman. Anyone who can make Aquaman look bad@$$ and cool deserves all the credit in the world. There is lots of action in the movie but enough story and character development to make the movie watchable and even people who are not comic book fans (my wife) will really enjoy it. Everything in this movie was done really well, even the acting was a little better. If I had one complaint it would, I just got used to Grant Gustin as the Flash, then they used someone else (Ezra Miller) in the movie. I can see why they did this as they wanted a new/rookie version of the Flash, and Grant might be too established a face, but that is my complaint. Otherwise a great movie for old and new fans, with plenty to build on for future movies.

You cant save the world alone.
Heard a lot of negative reviews about this film before seeing it and was starting to think DC had once again put out a poor film that would leave me feeling disappointed (ie suicide squad) however, was very surprised to find myself really enjoying it. Yes it isn't as good as avengers assemble but it was better than age of ultron. Few people moaned that superman coming back wasn't a surprise but when a hero comes back or isn't really dead can you genuinely say you are surprised? Okay onto the story, after superman death and the impending attack from darkseid in he future we are left with Bruce Wayne assembling some of the world's most famous heroes to take on steppenwolf who is after the mother boxes. Steppenwolfs CGI is a let down but overall he is a typical bad guy out for power and a decent enough villain for a first justice league outing. The introduction of each hero joining the team is fun to watch and even though the movie was perhaps a little short I bought overall it was a fun and enjoyable movie rather than hours of being bored. Here's hoping that dc do make a success of things as I love how the marvel universe has been built up and if dc could have similar longevity I would love it.

Review of the 4K Ultra HD edition
The 4k Ultra HD edition is a 2 disc set. First, you get the 4k version of the film (with no extras). And second, you get the standard Blu-ray version of the movie (which does features a few extras). My review will focus on the 4k version, although I'll start by providing an outline of the film itself.'Justice League' is the fifth instalment in the DC cinematic universe, and serves as a direct sequel to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Ultimate Edition 4K Ultra HD) [Includes Digital Download] [Blu-ray] [2016] [Region Free], which in turn is a sequel to Man of Steel [Includes Digital Download] (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray). In order to best understand the story, and follow what's going on, I recommend that you first watch these other two films. (This cinematic universe also consists of Wonder Woman [4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital Download] [2017] [Region Free] and Suicide Squad [4K Ultra HD Blu-ray] [Includes Digital Download] [Region Free]).The story is about the formation of the Justice League, a team of superheroes who - until now - have largely operated singularly. A world-ending threat, posed by an ancient evil warrior named Steppenwolf, leads this otherwise disparate group of superheroes to join forces and save humankind. And so we get Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg working together. As a fan of both these individual superheroes and their team, the Justice League, I was eagerly awaiting the release of this film. It's a big-budget affair (one of the most expensive movies ever made), and promised a lot. The actual story, which serves as a foundation for the formation of the League, is quite good - and it builds on the events that take place in the previous films. Still, this isn't the best "origin" story, nor the most entertaining version of the League (in this regard, I prefer the animated universe: Justice League - Season 1).This film is directed by Zack Snyder (or at least it's credited as directed by him). Snyder's other films include WATCHMEN: ULTIMATE CUT and 300 [Blu-ray] [2007] [Region Free]. He typically provides full-on (often gory) action sequences, interspliced with some serious (usually depressive) story-telling. If you're a fan of his style - which I am - then you'll likely have been enthusiastically waiting for this film. Unfortunately, Snyder was unable to complete this movie - and the final product was put together by a stand-in director (Joss Whedon). What we get is a mixed offering, with elements of Snyder's original vision (which was intended as a dark narrative) along with Whedon's lighter, more humorous bits and pieces. Personally, I'm not happy with the latter's contribution, and the end result is a little hollow. While Snyder's storytelling is certainly not for everyone, the fact is those of us who do appreciate his work find it to be stunning. But here it's been watered down, and become something far less memorable. Still, it's likely more appealing to children. The 4k version of the film offers stunning picture quality (indeed, the imagery is at times jaw-dropping), as well as awesome audio. Both the contrast and brightness are perfect, and the viewer is treated to a sensational display. There's a lot of colour in this film, and the ultra high definition provides for a rich and intense luminance. The features - from cityscape to faces - are crystal clear, and there's also a fantastic depth to the imagery. Although this film was mastered in 2k digital, and only later transferred into 4k, it's one of the best Ultra HD films available. At £20 (as I review), it's rather pricey. Especially as you don't even get the 3D version. But if you've the spare cash, and a 4k player, this movie provides for an enjoyable experience. As for the film itself, I'd likely award 3 stars. But in 4k the movie is elevated, and for this reason I've added another star. It's not a film I recommend for everyone. If you've enjoyed "Man of Steel" and "Batman v Superman" then you'll likely enjoy this one too. This is the weakest of the three - no doubt due to Snyder's lack of control over the final product. But it's still worth watching.
