The Elf off the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition Gone Bad Hardcover – October 18, 2011

Gave this as a gag gift in an adult gift exchange. Bought a green elf on the shelf knock off doll separately to give with it. Everyone thought it was hilarious and got a huge kick out of it.

You only get 1 star because I can not give you 0 stars.When I ordered this it made it seem like the doll was included.The comments that are now listed about this item where not there when I ordered.I bought it for the doll.Now everything says doll not included.Even the pictures show with a green elf. I want the green elf!Very disappointed in this.If I cannot get the elf you can have the book back.What good is it without the doll?I was going to get the red elf as well but now I'm not sure I what to get it from Amazon.It says the seller is Amazon.False advertizing is unfair.I am very ? not only disappointed, I'm angry! I did not buy this for a child it was for myself.I bought the Plush doll and DVD for my granddaughter.I even bought the skirt for Horace to change him to Harriet.The skirt does me no good.

While the visuals are not very appealing, it's a fun book for adults about the Elf on the Shelf

It is a fun book with even gunner ideas for our "Bob", as my daughter is getting older. My husband just loved the book and ideas. It has him trying to outdo the books ideas, and now he is a part of the fun!

From all the reviews I read, I figured this book would have a very inappropriate sense of humor, but it was the opposite. It was just some mild adult humor or maybe I have a very inappropriate mindset, whatever the case may be. I honestly expected the humor to be very crude. I also don't understand why the parents freaked out about the book in the other reviews, when it is clearly obvious that it isn't made for kids since it is a parody. So don't read it to your kids and if you didn't know, then look through it before hand, I do that with my students. One very positive thing is that you do get some great ideas from the book to put your elf in naughty situations.

This was a great alternative when decreasing my Christmas card list- with all the fanfare of the elf this year & friends posting pictures of their elves hiding, I thought it would be quite appropriate LOL It was a hit :)

I am so upset about this product. I wanted te green elf that is suposed to go with the book, but this does not come with an elf at all. we got the elf on the shelf last year for one of our kids and wanted a second elf and the book would be good for adults and the green elf could just show up with the other one. What makes me really mad is i am going to have to pay for shipping which is half what the damn book cost me to send it back. This would have been perfect if it had the green elf with it. i am very disappointed that the description did not specify that elf is not included and saved me the trouble for buying this from the begining. I am a very unhappy customer right now and will be calling Amazon to let them know.

I thought this was a humorous take on the Elf On The Shelf. And yes, this book is for the older crowd and not for young readers. Maybe more suited for teens and adults.
