I used about a quarter sized ball for my thick, long hair and I probably could have done a pinch less if I wanted to sacrifice a little of the exfoliation. The texture is paste like and concentrated. Put the shampoo on your scalp (I sectioned my hair horizontally across the back of my head and rubbed some on my scalp back there too) and then add more water to start scrubbing/lathering. The trick is adding a little more water after it’s on your head to get the lather going. This is a great hair care brand. The aloe hair mask is also fantastic. I knew I’d most likely love this, but got the sample size. Wish I just got the full size off the bat. It costs more but it will last and is one of the best out there. It also smells amazing, like a salon shampoo.
