It can measure up to 20 amps on the low setting and at least 200 amps on the high setting. If you need to measure DC Amps, that is a different question. I don't think it measures DC Amps, but I have not verified. You measure amps by clamping the jaws around a single conductor. This is the standard method for a clamp on ammeter. If you need explanation of this then search google or YouTube how to use a clamp-on ammeter. If you are seeking an ammeter that you wire in to the circuit, this is not that kind of ammeter.
