PMP Project Management Professional Study Guide, Fifth Edition 5th Edition

I took a 4-day boot camp in July, and started the count down to studying. Reading PMBOK guide was sooo dry and a friend who is also a PMP highly recommended this Phillips book. I read the PMBOK guide for 1-2 weeks, but outside of that I largely used this Phillips book, with the occasional reference back to PMBOK as needed.LOVED the practice test questions, and explanations on why something was wrong. It helped reinforce the ideas. The repetitiveness of the introduction, the chapter, the overview and 2-minute recap also helped a ton for getting the info to sink in.I PASSED the exam and have this Phillips book to thank (in addition to 60-80 hours of studying and 4 practice exam!)

This text covers the 49 Processes, 10 Knowledge Areas, and five process groups for the PMBOK exam prep for the PMP. The topics are laid out well to cover the material (and explain it) for the PMP exam. This is the best text prep I have seen on the topic. It is so well done that I require it as a text for my graduate course on Program and Project Management. This is, hands down, the best value of any text currently on the market. Get the paperback version of the text (comes with a separate laminated cheat sheet and a DVD with practice exams. The ebook version is difficult to see the numerous charts.

I purchased the Udemy dot com training by Joseph Phillips and this study guide is a great supplement to his video lectures. It has over 900 practice questions (with explanations) and a concise form of review materials. This is a perfect study guide to assist with taking an exam that costs more than $500 for your PMP certification. Should be required learning materials for anyone wanting to take the PMI-PMP exam. Well worth the $$$.

Helpful guide for pmp. Still studying so can’t comment on how it will impact my test results. Lots of great info.

Great PMP study resource. Excellent companion piece to the authors courses on Udemy or as a stand-alone resource.

Joe knows his stuff. I've used his products before and they are always of great quality.

Could have used a better editor. I’ve found a number of spelling and grammatical mistakes- hoping the content is all accurate. I will say that I’ve seen similar reviews on a lot of PMP books by different authors, not just this one.

Like the explanations and questions/answers regarding the topics.

I am getting ready to write my CAPM and bought both the PMBOK book in addition to this guide. I found that the PMBOK is so dry and boring to read that I wasn’t absorbing anything. I strictly read the guide which is way easier to understand and more “ enjoyable “ to read. Don’t waste your money on the 6th edition PMBOK book- just get this book and you’ll be ok.

Excellent Book

We use that book to prepare our student for the pmp exam in Ivory Coast. It s very efficient !

Bought it for a class. The class exam is basically striaght out of the quiz portion in this book.I like this much better than the last version.

The additional materials are great. Excellent explanations of the concepts not only to pass the PM, but also as a reference guide
