The messengers of Yamraj are not even able to touch those who wear a thorn ie Tulsi garland around their neck (Skanda Purana). According to the Puranas, it is also believed that if there is a garland of Tulsi on the body while taking food, then that person gets the virtue of performing yajna manifold.
