Q: can you wall mount this unit? Does it have holes on the bottom?

Unfortunately it does not have any mounting holes. It does not come with any mounting brackets either so you will need to get brackets or even some velcro.

Q: As my Internet signal is received via a cable modem, can I hook this up to the cable modem??

This is a network switch, not a router. As long as your cable modem is in "router" mode, you can use this device.

Q: How well would this work to power voip phones that are 802.af compliant? specifically - we are using cisco spa509g's. thank you!

The TS-8 is passive POE, so not really recommended. But it probably would work just fine.

Q: Does it come with the energy cable?

it DOES come with the power cord, yes.
