Great learning tool for my 20 month old son!
My son loves going through these cards and started learning his colors the same day we received them! I like that they are thick and glossy and therefore sturdier than plain flashcards because he's really rough on them sometimes and we've only had to repair minor tears on a couple of them. I will definitely buy the more advanced version once he's mastered these.

really liking it
Bought these cards to learn Japanese with my daughter who is 3 1/2. We started with body parts and have continued to clothes and now animals. We use the words in everyday vocabulary and have put up the poster in the living room. A few times my daughter has pulled me over to the poster and asked me what things were. Just the other day while at the store she pointed to the gallon of milk and declared "gyuunyuu". We "play Japanese" daily and she is always asking me what one thing or another is in Japanese. We've been having a lot of fun learning together. The CD is a bit dry, but I put it on as background noise and we've picked up a few things while doing other things like folding laundry or doing dishes.

Easy to use
Bought for an 8 year old to review and reinforce Japanese vocabulary skills. She enjoys the flash cards very much. They are sturdy and the box storage is nice. The poster is bigger than I expected and shows all the same words that are on the cards. We havenโt tried the disk out yet, not sure if we will.

Great fun product
Having a blast going over these flash cards, helps out knowing some Hiragana first then going into these. Really helps when learning another language, in my eyes that is.

Work like a charm.
They are very simple, however, they mix Kanji and Kana together. I don't find it particularly bothersome but I would have liked if the word was not written in romaji in the front. I love the poster and the flashcards themselves are sturdy and fairly large. Plus the CD has about four song which are absolutely fun!!. I will definitely buy the second box.

Good information
The flash cards are good. The chart is like one good place where are basic words are together. The flash cards have sentences at the back which help understand the sentence patterns and those sentences one can use in daily conversations too

Great learning kit
I am a multilingual individual with family living in Japan so I wanted to pass my knowledge onto my children with aim to help them communicate with their cousins in Japan; I started with simple sentences or words and when I found this kit I did not hesitate to purchase it. It comprises of a very good selection selection of words printed in colourful cards, written in both Romanji and Kanji/Hiragana/Katakana as appropriate with usage examples overleaf. I do strongly recommend this kit for families requiring Japanese or new learners of the language.

Useful
While it wasn't quite what I expected as far as content choices go the addition of a phrase using the word was a really nice touch and a way for the cards to be used beyond simple rote memory.

I highly recommend the whole collection !
I purchased the Hirugana and katakana flash cards from the same collection and they were VERY helpful to memorize all the characters in the syllabaries. (more on this at the end of the review) So naturally, I was pretty enclined to buy those. The Flash cards for Kids collection is simply superb! It's cute, kids friendly drawings makes it fun and easy to use. It comes with a CD-ROM and a poster and the cards are quite thin but they don't rip easily. Yay for glossy paper! They're also pretty large for children to hold but the perfect size if you're a teacher and want to show to a small classroom. You have the romaji on the A face of the card (the one with the drawing) so if you want to learn the vocabulary and slowly memorize the real writing (kanji included) they are PERFECT. Although I will eventually want to put small stickers to block the romaji section. ;) On face B, you have the word in japanese, romaji and english as well as sentences using that word so you can practice some more. Those are translated from japanese to romaji and english as well. What I really liked about this collection is how... "playful" ( ?) the cards are, without being childish and the color codes to represent sections were clever as well. For example : you have cards to learn father, mother, younger brother, older sister, etc. with a blue stripe on top saying "Kazoku" (family) and it's written in japanese as well as romaji so it's even more vocabulary and can help a little with the words. SHORT parenthesis about the syllabary flash cards from the same company : [On one side of the syllbary collection, you had the character, the correct stroke order in a corner and 6 words, expressions or sentences written with characters you're learning. On the other side you have romaji, translations and sometimes tiny drawings to memorize the characters! Do buy if you're interested in learning to write and read japanese!]
