What does "bulletproof" mean here and what method of decaffeination is it?

Bulletproof coffee was coined by Dave Asprey in his Bulletproof Diet book. It means super clean coffee free of mould toxins that can cause brain fog and lack of focus. We test all our coffees for these mould toxins (mycotoxins) and go one step further to test for pesticides too.

Catechol is naturally present in small quantities in the vacuoles of cells of many plant tissues. Catechol oxidase is present in the cell cytoplasm. If the plant tissues are damaged, the catechol is released and the enzyme converts the catechol to ortho-quinone, which is a natural antiseptic. I suspect that the question refers to Synthetic Catechol, which is used in the production of pesticides, but as this product clearly says "Zero Pesticides" on the packet, there should be no Catechol as a residue from those. Catechol oxidases are everywhere, as they're an extremely common group of enzymes, found commonly in e.g. bananas, apples & potatoes - I don't know if they are found naturally in coffee, but if they are, that'd be the same for all coffee.

What does bulletproof coffee mean? I searched google and it states that this is coffee containing mct oil and grass fed butter. is this true?

Hi Naresh. It has two meanings - one is the drink you refer to where you blend coffee with C8 MCT and grass fed ghee or grass fed butter. The other meaning refers to the coffee you include in the blend. The coffee should be a “clean coffee” or bulletproof coffee. This means it is lab tested for mould toxins or mycotoxins. At lean caffeine we take it one step further and lab test also for pesticides and heavy metals which can also be present in coffee.
