Good value filter - 20 Stops might be a bit too dark.
Bought this for the upcoming solar eclipse. This filter came in a nice protective case and the overall quality of the filter is great. No problem with threading it onto a 70-200 Canon 2.8 lens and the cover snaps right on.Now this is a really dark filter. In fact unless you have a full on view of the sun without any obstructions you won’t be able to get a bright photo unless you are using a higher than 100 iso, low shutter speeds, or high aperture rates. Ideally you want to shoot F5 or F8 at 100 iso and 1/100+ shutter speeds but it’s quite dark at that setting. I did end up buying the cheaper 16.6 ND but it hasn’t come in yet. I would say that’s the better filter to go to so you can use higher shutter speeds or lower isos. Attached is an unedited photo along with a slightly edited version. This was on a clear day at high noon. With a little editing it was great but it’s still a bit darker than I wanted. If you can, get the 16.6 nd instead.

Great for solar photography
Worked great for photographs leading up to the eclipse. No filter used during totality.

Best Solar Lens Filter
I needed something great for the solar eclipse that happened back in April, and after much research came across this filter! It had all the bells and whistles at a more reasonable price. Very easy to put on and take off. The color it gave for the sun was perfect, not distorted in any way. Best in class!

Decent filter for the price
Worked just fine for the eclipse. Is indeed dark but was easy enough to compensate with my Z8. For solar photography I’d say for 25 bucks you can’t go wrong. Will say, the screw build is not great, so it’s a bit of an issue getting in and especially getting off if you tighten it a bit. Never had this happen with my other higher quality filters. Just be careful.

Did'nt blind me
Well, for something I will probably only use a few more times in my lifetime, it served it's purpose. Seems to be well made, but I'm not an astrophotographer.

Phenomenal filter for solar photography.
For the price I paid, this filter absolutely blew my expectations out of the water. I bought this in preparation for the solar eclipse in Maine this year using a Tamron 70-300mm Nikon lens.I didn’t notice any vignetting with my set up but I’m also pretty new to photography and I was shooting the sun so it was pretty much black everywhere minus the sun itself.Image quality is great, there is some noise when shooting in such low lighting but is easily fixed in processing.Only down side is it’s a screw in filter so in a shot that requires little time frame it can be stressful removing it and putting back on when needed. For the $40 I spent on this, 100% best purchase I’ve made in years.

Solar filter doesn't turn the image orange
I needed a solar filter once we decided we'd try to view the April, 2024 solar eclipse...weather permitting...since I have replaced both the camera and the lens that I used for the previous eclipse (2017). Weather permitted, and the filter worked well. Can't really say the same for the camera + lens (focus issues that I occasionally have, even without a filter), but the solar filter worked well. I appreciated the lack of colorization of the sun (it looks light gray in the properly-exposed images, while my previous filter made the sun look orange or yellow orange). Sunspots were visible, too, so I may use the filter occasionally for sunspot photos in the future. The filter can also be useful with or without a camera to view very bright lights. The filter came with a nice hard-plastic protective case that is easy to use. It also included a couple of cleaning cloths that I haven't used, so can't really describe here.

An excellent if misunderstood product
I got this filter and it took me a bit of experimentation to make it work. First, it is important to remember that this filter is for shooting the sun and it is exceptionally dark (which is good because the sun is exceptionally bright). I put the filter on the camera (A Canon EOS T3I with a 250 mm image-stabilized telephoto lens) and could see nothing until I was able to find the sun in a totally black field of view. I took the picture, looked at it on my computer and saw a white circle on a black field. As I thought about this, I realized that the automatic systems were being overwhelmed with so much black and a small very bright object in the center. I shifted the camera to manual and after much experimentation, found that setting the F-Stop to 10 and the shutter speed to 1/400 produced an image where I could see details such as sunspots on the face of the sun. When you get it to this point, it is an exceptional product but it is not something you can just slap on a camera and get the desired results.

Great product
I absolutely love this company for filters. They are excellent quality products. I bought this to photograph the sun. The only thing missing is....the sun 🤣

An interesting filter
As I have had great positive experiences of using K&F Concept filters on a DJI Mini 4 Pro drone and the DJI OSMO Pocket 3 cameras, I thought I'd try out this very dark filter for use with a Leica Q3. I hadn't specifically purchased this filter for Sun shooting, but realistically as this filter is so dark, it's pretty much only useful for that, as the exposure length / ISO requirements produce a very grainy image. That's no fault of the filter, but rather my expectation of what I might get away with. For the price point, this filter represents great value and if you fancy photographing or videoing solar activity, this is a super addition to the camera bag. There are two negative points, of which the most serious is that the quality of the filter's thread is not great. When compared to a B+W german filter, which is super silky smooth when attaching or detaching to the Leica's 28mm lens (49mm thread), the K&F Concept filter is rough and slightly grinding. Be very, very careful not to overtighten this filter as you may need a filter wrench to remove it from your lens. The other negative is that my requirement of a 49mm filter means that I do not want a huge filter box and the K&F concept plastic box is designed to handle huge filters. It's simply too large to put in a small camera bag.

Immer super
