Breville Lustra Electric Kettle, 1.7 Litre, 3 KW Fast Boil, Shimmer Cream [VKT063]

Used since Monday. 3 cleaning boils, then an initial cup of tea. Clear water and clean taste. I live in Kent, hard water and wanted a kettle with a removable lid for cleaning. This fits the need. Large hole for male hands too to get inside. Nicely made with some chrome style strips for a little style. Didn't want 3Kw boil, but they all seem to be that now. Nice to hold, handle not textured, but not found it slippery with dry hands. Handle allows multiple pouring angles. Spout - The spout, at last, a wide spout! This means you can pour fairly quickly without water leaking from around the lid. Very nice, love it. My only complaint, the 360 degree base is a bit on the light side and the power cable can push it about a bit. It would be nice to kettle makers fit a weighted base, a heavy metal, as when the kettle boils it does wobble a lot and also there is a little resonance in the structure, a buzz, as it comes to the boils; so not the quietest kettle, but appears well made. I have had Breville's before and found them to be good workhorses, so I hope that legacy continues. P.S. This replaces a Morphy Richards!

We bought this with the matching toaster. Very happy with the product. I read all the reviews and was a little concerned when I read it was noisy (in one review) and gave off a bad taste but we haven't found this at all. In fact this kettle is QUIETER than previous kettles and we followed the instructions to boil a full kettle a few times to get rid of any residue from manufacturing and it's perfect. The colour is lighter than it looks on the pictures. I have added a photo in the hope it reflects that it is a lot more pearly white than the pearly grey in the pics but either way it's very pretty. Pours well and it's really handy having a lid that comes off totally. It also doesn't give you a horrible scraping feeling when you do it like some expensive jug kettles I have had in the past. Toaster is fab too. Looks really smart and the buttons and levers are all very sturdy feeling.

Good, quick boiling kettle. Timed a full boil at 3m 40 secs if that helps anyone. Fairly quiet whilst boiling and seems well built.One downside is the 'factory' taste. It took a good 12 full boils for the taste and smell to go. The other downside and reason for just the four stars is the base seems very flimsy and cheap. I would have preferred a bit more of a chunkier base. Anyway, no major complaints and does what it needs to do and looks good.

Kettle looks great but I have spend 3 weeks repeatedly boiling and gone through 3 boxes of bicarbonate of soda and there is still a bad flavour making it unusable. I have returned and ordered a replacement on advice from Breville. I am hoping this is a one off issue and I will be able to use the replacement kettle.New kettle has no problem with flavour but did arrive with a scratch! Great kettle but poor quality control from breville which is disappointing.

This is such a beautiful kettle, yes beautiful, elegant and lovely to use. The handle has a nice grip to it, the light when boiling is fab. It holds a nice amount of water, is quick to boil and not very loud. The ‘Lustra’ range is def for me, the toaster is just as fab, wish they made a microwave and slow cooker in this design. The colour changes with different light, it’s taupe, neautral right now but the cream can be seen.

The spout is well designed and allows you to pour the water out very slowly without dripping - good for making filter coffee. The water tastes good - no plastic taint. The lid pulls off - no hinge to go wrong. The kettle is pretty quiet in operation. And it looks good. A perfect product!

Great modern-looking and sleek design, the blue indicator light adds a nice touch. Colour is not exactly cream, it has a slight pink tint to it, but it matches my kitchen well. Love the fact that I can take the lid off completely - it makes filling the bottle much easier. The interior is stainless steel, but the exterior is plastic so the kettle remains cool to touch. Boils quickly and great capacity. Would definitely recommend.

Nice, light kettle. I'm disappointed it doesn't have more accurate measures, the scale in the window starts at 4 cups so if you want 2 mugs of tea that amount of water doesn't even show in the window. It's annoying if your trying to save water and electricity. Also you need to pour quite slowly otherwise the water comes out over the filter by the spout.
