This is certainly an upgrade on my existing hood filter. The main part is a pretty thick carbon filter, and then there's an additional much thinner sheet, with an indicator pattern that turns from brown to red when it's time to change the filter, which should be useful. It does seem to be a high quality product.My only caution is that if you need it to be smaller, as I did, it does make a little bit of a mess when you cut it. It was quite tough to actually cut the main sheet with normal scissors. You just want to make sure you do it outside or somewhere you can easily clean up the carbon dust generated. You're best off wearing gloves when doing it too, because the carbon does get over your hands otherwise.

These replacement filters are very simple and straightforward to cut and fit. The filters were easily trimmed with a sharp pair of kitchen scissors, so no special tools were required.They have helped to revive a standard sized kitchen extractor unit and make it work effectively once again. The indicator strips are going to be very helpful in determining when to replace the filter, but I haven’t had them long enough to see how well they perform.Two filters are supplied in the pack, so they’re good value as far as I’m concerned.The fact that these filters are manufactured in Germany gives me reassurance that they should perform to a high standard.
