If you just want to play around and make a few really great gifts for Christmas, this is the perfect book for you! I was so impressed at how easy they were to make and the fact you do not need a sewing machine to do it! I made pillows in one night! I made a shade for a window in two nights! The therapy in constructing the flowers lowers your blood pressure if it's too high and the brain learns something new! I hunted the web until Goodwill came up with this book. I was amazed at the price! I made in one month 10 different items and I love them all. This book lead me to a teaching job. Ichabana as it is known was the best thing that ever happened to me! Please, if you sew with a needle, you will never, ever put this book down! I am so impressed!

Loved the stories that went with each flower. Enjoyed making some hydrangeas to put on the tote bag I just made.It was a good way to use up my scraps of material. The instructions in this book will get used often.

The Japanese really know about flowers, and they know about colour and balance. This is a must for anyone who is fascinated by threading a needle, and making something beautiful. The instructions are visual and written, so they're really easy to understand. All the templates are there to be copied, for making up the various pieces, and although this was originally a way of using up kimono silks, this book aims at beautiful colourful cottons. I can truthfully say that I have never before had a book that has fascinated and pleased me so much.

I made an entire quilt using these patterns, 16 of them, which were adapted by a friend who is a much better quilter than I. It was fun and the quilt is beautiful. If you want to have some fun, buy this book, and get started. Go by the pictures more than any written explanations. You could just make a wall hanging. The patterns are fun, easy, and it makes a beautiful quilt. Which I am hand quilting due to the 3 dimensional effect.

My wife who loves flowers and quilting and other handcraft work loves this book. We have always liked Japanese artwork--something that has been reinforced via half a dozen trips from about 1973 to 1993. The artwork and techniques covered in this book are exquisite.[Gentlemen, please check your records, I'd swear I already gave you a review on this purchase, but I seem to recall the focus of that review being a highly favorable review of the 3rd Party Supplier--so maybe that's why you are bugging me "again".]

I love the different designs with flowers and provides many concepts on how to utilize this concept. I highly recommend any of Kumiko Sudo's quilting books even for the novice quilter as they inspire one's imagination and creativity. I have used her concepts even for baby blankets using children's prints and produced a kaleidoscope of colors and designs..

Her techniques are absolutely stunning. Now I just have to gather the courage to try to do some of what she has illustrated. Her patterns are easily read and if you follow the directions, are really very simple - just be accurate and enjoy the process. The beauty of what she has created out of folded fabric is amazing, and how nice of her to put it in a book and share with the rest of us.

I bought Fabled Flowers for my friends Christmas present. I bought it as used but when it arrived it was in perfect condition. My friend was over the moon and has already made a few of the flowers from the book.
