Fearlessly autobiographical, he sings of current love in "Hangin' Round Here", past indiscretions in "Something Broken" and his sister's cancer battle on "Farther Stars". This is a great singer-songwriter writing from the heart; drawing from hard lessons of experience with the brilliant slide guitarist Sonny Landreth on hand to gild his vocals with tender longing on "My Old Friend" and stark fury on the murderous "I Know A Place".
