Decent Lock
Updated! The company reached out and assisted in this issue.Updated! Decent Lock but the Gateway it is difficult connecting (bluetooth) to Google Home, App is lame at best!! I connected the Gateway to the Life Smart App ok, and the Google Home app picks up the Gateway ok. Note: When using Google Home to lock/unlock, the big rectangular lock Icons are blue when locked and grey/not colored when unlocked (took a while to figure this out). Initially (the first 24 hrs) the Smart Life app often showed a small note in green at the bottom stating the locks s as "not connected to Bluetooth, which means you cannot use the app. Then as of today (24-48 hrs later) it does not seem to be happening. There is no reason this should be have happened and it was very concerning/frustrating. I have an updated Samsung phone 2023/Galaxy S23 and the locks are new. I think the Bluetooth protocols are old or not compatible with newer phones. It connected and disconnected randomly.The result is the lock work with the app ok and now Google Home but it is glitchy and the manufacturer should tell you these things, admit it is glitchy, and give you tips on how to deal with it or fix it and do proper testing with different internet wifi', Bluetooth protocols, etc. Finally the Instructions in the package show pictures/screenshots of the app that are old, the screenshots show a green line item called Settings and now it says More in the app which is confusing, and also the More fields/line items are wonky/out of place for that screen. The Smart Scenes are not explained at all in the instructions, they are VERY hard to figure out and the two header line item categories don't make any sense nor do the next pages they lead you too? The navigation layout is very bad too! It seems like some 16 yr old developer in his first college developer course produced them. Zero user testing was done I'm sure. What a horrible attempt at the higher level Smart if/then functionality. Obviously, the owner and senior mgt at Hornbill have never used this app and don't care about their product.

Really good lock and great customer service
The media could not be loaded. I was having trouble getting the Bluetooth connected with my new lock , thankfully I got the best person to resolve my connection issues her name is TARA she responded to all my questions and solved all the troubleshooting with great service , very friendly, kind, patient and with lot of respect .now I’m able to use the lock in the proper way, allowing me to open and see who comes in the house from my phone at all times also using the key fob and the fingerprints.

Hardware/lock function is good, software is lacking/non-intuitive
The lock system arrived quickly and all parts were accounted for. My husband found the door lock installation to be straightforward. The hardware is good quality and the actual deadbolt functionality is smooth and quick (to lock and unlock). So, hardware quality passes with flying colors. The software and firmware is not quite at the same level of quality. Setup was a bit convoluted but I was able to successfully set up the interface between the app on my phone and the locking system, as well as the gateway, without assistance from customer support. But, it took some guesswork. The instructions are pretty bad but just enough to help me figure things out. I easily set myself up as the admin. But, setting up other family members was more of a hunt and guess approach that the instructions were not so useful for. The pictures guiding you in the instructions are so small they are impossible to read without a magnifying glass. Once installed, everything functions sufficiently, but with a quirk or 2. The touch keypad doesn't always respond immediately. When you lock with a code, you must touch the pad first, wait for it to light up and then enter the code. Takes a little getting used to. The figure print unlocking also takes getting used to such that in the beginning I had to try a couple times before it unlocked. But, I am now used to it so I guess that's fine. When unlocking via the keypad, a voice tells you if locking was successful or not. But, it first says that locking failed, then within seconds saids locking is successful. A glitch for sure. Again, not a big deal. I actually ended up turning off the voice, finding it a little annoying. The Alexa integration works pretty good. And, I eventually figured out that once the gateway is paired with the locking system, remote locking works pretty good. But, it will not work without the gateway so if you want to be able to control the lock while away from home, you definitely need to install the gateway. I do like that the keypad lights up. That's really handy when walking up to the door at night. All in all, it's a good lock with some not as great software. But, it does the trick and we're used to it now. As long as it continues to function as it is, we're happy.

Great Customer Service
The lock is a great design and many features. I did have issues with the battery life and the customer service Reb was very helpfull. Working with me to quickly resolve the issue, senting a replacement lock, and programing.

Good quality hardware software is lacking.
The quality is very good and material is sturdy. Installation was pretty straight forward and easy to do overall. The hardware itself is great. Software can be a nightmare. Not the easiest process and for that very reason do not recommend. I would look for other alternatives. App and software development requires much needed work. Should not be having such difficulty.
