Start cutting a mortise-and-tenon joint straight from the box with the Rob Cosman Medium Tenon Saw. Using his years of experience in teaching woodworking – joinery specifically – and feedback on his larger Tenon Saw, Cosman designed his Medium Tenon Saw to make the process of cutting tenons easier. At slightly smaller than the standard sized Tenon Saw, the Medium Tenon Saw will handle the majority of joinery cuts in furniture applications. The specially designed 11" blade has a fine starting tip of 22 TPI to help you gain speed before hitting the larger, 12 TPI teeth in the center and making the heavy cuts. The deeper gullets of the larger teeth allow for more sawdust to flow out. The angle of the cutting face was reduced to 17° to reduce grabbing that often occurs with larger teeth. A slight set of 0.002" per side ensures a straight cut and smooth, ready-to-glue edges. When held, the saw weighs in a little heavier than most and provides better balance and reduced saw vibration. The extra weight, combined with the pistol grip style handle, trains you to make straight, perpendicular cuts. These straight, perpendicular cuts translate to less adjustment time in getting the joint to fit together correctly. The ebony resin handle is balanced and durable. The pistol grip has carved finger recesses to enhance the muscle memory in your hand when making a cut. Brass split nuts connect the blade to the handle and the brass back. Copper pins secure the blade to the brass back. Each saw comes packed securely in a wooden crate – ideal for storage. Each saw has been tested before packaging to ensure it’s ready to use straight from the box.
