This *WILL* work on a Ram Truck, but ONLY...
Lots of bad reviews on this product - Please read below - I purchased this when I installed a new Kenwood head unit in a 2016 RAM Truck in order to retain the USB data/connectivity (so I could use Android Auto and Apple Car Play). It did NOT work initially and it will NOT work UNLESS you purchase and install the "iDatalink Maestro RR". If you install the iDatalink Maestro RR, this will work correctly. If you don't install the Maestro RR, it will not work.Initially, the head unit and this piece were installed by Best Buy. Best Buy installers made me order this piece along with a steering wheel module (to retain my steering wheel controls). After the install, I had voltage problems that affected the back up camera (fuzzy and lots of static in the picture), and also I was not able to use Android Auto/Apple Car Play through the USB with this piece.Fast forward to a few days later when I took my truck to a Car Audio Specialist and they told me that I needed the iDatalink Maestro RR module and that it would solve the voltage problem as well as allow this piece to function properly giving me working Android Auto and Apple Car Play along with full access and functionality of the head unit. They were right.Bottom line - this product WILL work, but was meant to be used in conjunction with the iDatalink Maestro RR. Also, unless you are an experienced tech, I'd recommend an install from a specialist. I'm sure it can vary, but I think this is beyond the scope of most Best Buy installers.

Worked great on 2014 Ram 1500
I just swapped out my head unit (uconnect) for a Rongji Android one. Of course my armrest usb hub did not work....so I started reading on the forums. Sure enough, this part was needed. I did NOT have to do any special programing, notta. You will lose the SD card reader (never used it) though, but they give you black tape to cover the slot. It worked like a champ! For use on a 2014 RAM 1500 Lone Star model, I highly recommend it! I didn't even have to use the cable that was included with it.

Highly dissapointed with this product. Bought it when I decided to update my factory radio and couldn't find a ton of info on it and seen an install video where it showed CarPlay working so I thought great, get to keep my console USB. Installed easily even though board really didn't hold in mount as well as factory and the USB/aux ports were a touch off(had to wiggle cable to get it to connect easily). Tested and CarPlay and pandora(streaming app only, not through CarPlay) worked so I was pretty happy. Next day while driving to work the CarPlay just stopped working so I messed with it more the next few days and the CarPlay would lose connection quite often and pandora streaming as well, the charging would go on and off also. I contacted Maestro and they said since it didn't fit well that it may be loose so I contacted seller and they shipped me another one out immediately and it fit same so I attempted again and it did same as prior device. I called Meastro once again and this time the tech said that the device didn't not work well with CarPlay and could loose connection with streaming apps as well. He informed me the device was mainly used to charge device and for flash drives to upload media, not CarPlay or streaming. Really seems like a waste as I'm sure that's what Mose people use media hub for. I sent the 2nd one in to seller(fanstaic customer support by them and no complaints there) and decided to keep original just so I can still charge from console. Maestro should put info that device does not work well with CarPlay or streaming apps on product info.

the 1/8" stereo plug does not work on 2016 Ram SLT
The USB part works fine. It's not exactly "easy" to install only because you have go through a number of steps, but it's not really "hard". Once you expose the connection area and the stock unit there's no problem installing this. It's not particularly over-priced, but with the disappointment of the 1/8" stereo connector not functioning it made it seem like it was worth a few bucks less anyway.

Works perfectly for Apple CarPlay
I replaced my factory 5” head unit in my 2017 Ram 1500 with a Pioneer and Meastro RR harness. This works perfectly to keep the USB port in the center console and allow for Apple CarPlay functionality. It comes with the cable to connect the factory connection to the back of the head unit. Replace the board in the console and you are in business. Took me about 45 minutes to swap the boards after finding a YouTube video. I swapped the head unit to give me CarPlay functionality and without this, you won’t get that without running your own cable and adding your own ports. I didn’t want to go that route and Maestro makes it easy to use what you already have.

This works.
This unit didn't work for me at first. But after some testing I found that the problem was the factory USB cable was not capable of transmitting USB 2.0 data. I replaced the cable and now it works as advertised.

Not for 2018 Ram
This is a good product Im sure, but idatalink has this item marked as usable in a 2018 Ram like my truck, which it is not. The cable fits fine, but the circuit board for the center console is NOT. 2018 Ram trucks come with 2 USB ports and Aux, which the URAM only has one USB and the circuit board is too small.

Research before purchase
All in all the item deserves 5 stars, packaging and quality are top notch, the seller accurately describes this item to a T. this seller does indeed deserve 5 stars as well as the quality of the item. However if you are planning on purchasing this to make for a clean (no wire showing) install, and have a receiver that runs android auto and plan on connecting via this unit, be sure to know that this device is not compatible with android auto (unsure about apple carplay). It is however fully functionable as the usb hub with aux input that it was designed for. this fault lies solely on MAESTRO and NOT THE SELLER, so please understand this when you do your research and purchase this from this seller before leaving your feedback. thank you everyone for taking the time to read this very long review and be kind to this seller as they sell very high quality items here on amazon.
