The Hellion (Wicked Wallflowers Book 1)

3.5 STARS
This is the first book in the series, but I’ve read this series back to front, and whilst I see there is a strand connecting them, I don’t feel reading them out of order was a bad idea, and the books I’ve read mean I do want to read more by the author.Adair Thorne and his brothers have just had their gaming hell burn, and whilst they think their enemies – the Killornas were behind it, Adair’s sister-in-law emphasises that unless they have proof, they cannot break the truce they have with the Killornas. And a component of that truth involves sponsoring one or the Killorans for a season. Cleopatra (Cleo) Killoran, sharp eyed, as well as being silent/quick on her feet in order to protect her siblings decides to grit her teeth and do as her brother wishes – have a season and find a titled husband. This book in the series is definitely at present my favourite of what I’ve read, there were moments of humour, some very small mischief (I would have liked more), tension, passion and a dash of angst, all of which were weaved together, for the most part, nicely. That being said I do wish that the mistrust that is depicted through almost more than half of the book, had been tampered down a little,The depiction of the rags to riches theme in this book, does require you to firmly leave reality at the door, or you will find yourself going no way would the Ton behave/react like that, for some reason I didn’t find myself perturbed by this fact as I read. That being said whilst I did enjoy this read, I didn’t find myself potently enamoured with the main characters, they worked well together overall, but I know that given a few weeks the characters and plot will dissipate from my thoughts. Yet I can see myself re-reading this when I need something that won’t task me, but will lightly engage me. Caldwell hasn’t become one of my favourite HR authors, but she her work is something I will continue to read, and hopefully overall enjoy.

A Fragile Alliance
This is the first of a series, but also a stepping stone from a previous one. We met Adair Thorne and his siblings in the Sinful Brides series, and through him we are now reading about the Killorans the family who have been rivals and enemies of Adair and his brothers. Broderick Killoran is determined one of his three sisters will marry into the aristocracy. An agreement was previously reached that Adair’s brother and sister-in-law would assist one of the Killoran sisters to have a season, a very fragile arrangement which right from the start is in jeopardy thanks to Adair gaming hell been set on fire and blame automatically directed to the hated Killorans. Even if the agreement comes to fruition, will Adair find it in himself to even be civil to Cleopatra, the sister looking to snare a husband.Ms Caldwell has once again drawn me in to another series with her strong, likeable and magnetic characters.

Awesome
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💋💋A very special book .What makes it so special?Adair Thorne?Cleopatra Killoran ?It’s both those and so much more .It’s the fact that Christi has created these two characters.Characters that are hard , unrelenting, unreachable, and she developed them .That evolution is not easy , these people were born , raised and live in St.Giles , it’s a rough relentless, environment. But by putting the two together she’s created something totally unique, a couple who need each other more than they ever realised , a man and woman with desire, love and a wish for a life wholly different but the same as they have now , and they never knew. They are special and so is the result of their joining forces, they don’t loose their identities they keep their rough edges , don’t become soft or different in any way , they add to themselves, another dimension is created , love .I adored this book , the whole journey was enlightening and emotional. It’s definitely my favourite of this series.Very Highly Recommended!

Amazing!
Another amazing read. Great to see much loved characters from the Sinful Brides series again, and to enjoy the journey to happily ever after of the final Hell and Sin brother. Saying that, however, the story comfortably stands alone. The story is an enemies to lovers one, with both the hero and heroine staunchly belonging to opposing sides. There are several twists and turns which take the reader on an exciting journey and make The Hellion incredibly difficult to put down! Absolutely loved it, and can not wait for the next instalment.

Historical Romance
The story is well written but I couldn't 'get into' the characters and warm to them. Read reviews of people who like this author!

Love from hate
A beautifully written historical romance that beings together the unlikeliest of people. Adair and Cleopatra; members of opposing gangs in the Dials of London, nuturing years of mutual hatred and each determined to best the other. But, their mutual hatred turns to respect and then love.
