It has three rows of hook loops so you can tighten or loosen it as needed. Having said that, if you are looking for something like this, I can recommend this product because it is fairly comfortable, has a price that is not terrible and covers a good range of your torso.

The waist trainer did everything I wanted it to do, it was true to size and held my gut in while I worked out. Major difference when looking in the mirror sideways and head on. I recommend ordering a size smaller than you would normally wear to get the maximum effect.

I ordered this on a lark. I knew it would be trouble when I saw all the little hooks and eyes like a woman’s corset from the 1930’s. The problem: if it would fit tightly enough to actually hold in one’s stomach, it would be really hard to hook the little hooks into the little eyes; if it would fit loosely enough to be easy to hook the hooks into the eyes, it wouldn’t hold in one’s tummy.

Let's start with the basics: I'm 5'-9" tall, 170 lbs and 34" waist. I ordered the small and would say that was the correct size. Now the back story: I've worn various designs of pull over, pull up, zip up and hook up garments for back support and to get a flatter midsection. They all provided little to no support. I've had to cut myself out of a few to get out of them on the initial fitting. I'm not wearing this to sweat and lose weight, but to look better in my daily business attire of slim fit suits and fitted shirts and to look taller by improving my posture. Many similar style garments are not meant to be worn all day under layers of clothes. This one is, as it is breathable and very flexible with no bone reinforcements sewn in. It took a few tries to get the hang of it, but I found it easiest to close by starting with the top hook and working my way down. I wished I had a valet to help me, but it's doable by yourself. It really did squeeze my midsection and lower ribs dramatically. My fitted shirt went from maxed out to slightly baggy. It compressed my torso so much that it doubled the size of my pecs popped out, which I absolutely loved! It had the opposite effect on my lower abs. The compression added an inch below the bottom of the trainer so my pants went from just fitting to being too small and I couldn't close them! I found a pair of dress pants that I could button up after scouring my closet. I wore the trainer for 11 hours straight and could feel it Every. Single. Minute. But I could bend and move normally and kept admiring my loose shirt! But it was soooooo uncomfortable, however it didn't ride up or move around. When I finally took it off, I was expecting to look battered and bruised, but only the impression of the thick seams were imbedded in my flesh. I machine washed and let it dry flat without issue. Conclusion: it works very well as promised. I wish it were a few inches longer to compress my lower abs so I could wear slim pants. I would say that this is a special occasion use only for a few hours unless you like torture. If someone were to touch your waist, they absolutely could feel that you are wearing a thick, heavyduty waist trainer.
