A brilliant pie making machine.
This was an eye opener. Never would i have thought if buying an item such as this, but after seeing an example in you tube, i decided, for the price, why not? An amazing machine. I plugged it into my watt meter, cut some tortilla circles with the provided cutter, filled them with left over veg, and within 10 to 12 minutes, the pies were piping hot done. Tested with a thermometer, all good, checked the power usage, o.o7kw. i think that's about 3 pence. Brilliant, highly, highly recommended.

BRILLIANT
It is very hard to get a decent gluten free pie so couldnt wait to try this when it arrived yesterday ( a day earlier than expected ) Very easy to use although I did find it better to use the small side of the included cutter for both top and bottom as the large side left a ring of pastry around it This time I used ready roll pastry and was easily able to make 5 pies with one roll ( could probably made 6 with a bit of rerolling ) * mins and they were ready to eat and delicious Now my sister and two daughters are putting in orders for them and I cant wait to experiment with different pastries and fillings

Perfect but Smallish Pies.
I had a previous pie maker a few years back that made terrible pies so I returned it and did without. Decided to give it another go. This time is different. This pie maker makes excellent pies. They aren't very big though which is fine by me as my appetite isn't what it used to be. Others might need two.First effort was cheese and home made caramelised onion chutney and it came out perfectly. Lidl shortcrust. The pastry spreads - trim using kitchen scissors once cooked. Overfill to ensure the pie top touches the top of the machine and bakes. Remember to oil before use. And fill it cold - do not preheat then add the pastry or you will burn your fingers. Should take about 10 minutes to cook from cold.

A perfect pie in 10 minutes?
You bet! Side by side, a steak and gravy pie and a black cherry pie.Using supermarket shortcrust pastry for the base and puff pastry for the top, it was all perfectly cooked in just10 minutes. And easy cleaning - just a wipe with a sponge and paper towel was all that was needed.Brilliant pie maker. Thanks for this!

Does what it says on the box
Makes small individual pies, not enough for one pie between two, but this is not an issue, as the pies are the ideal size for one each (approx 1.5 in deep). Heats quickly (although it's better to load it cold), and cooks pies evenly. A bit of messing around with pastry thickness is called for, but once I have that right, it will be great! Included pastry cutter seems to cut pastry too large. Other than that, a great little machine for the money.

Jury still out!
I bought this little machine as a 'quick fix' for those times when my grandchildren suddenly appear at lunchtime demanding sustenance. I seemed a good idea as I usually have suitable fillings to hand and bags of pastry in the freezer just needing water adding.Following the manufacturer's advice I bought some ready made pastry to try as well. The verdict from all three girls.....not as good as Granddad's homemade pies!My comment....not a great time saver and the bought pastry was very cardboard in texture. My own homemade pastry worked better, both short crust and puff versions. The pies need to be slightly over filled for the top crust to bake through and a better colour is achieved by brushing with milk rather than egg. The pies themselves were rather small, certainly not 'man sized' I would be a bit disappointed if I was served one of these in a pub.Overall the machine does what it is intended to do and is cheap enough, I shall try knocking out a batch of fruit pies for freezing and see if these are better than the meat pies.

Great
When using this for the first time, I used the cutter as stated. The large side for the pie base and small side for the top. However, the base of the pie was too big and spread out so there was overlapping edges which I then trimmed off. Next time I used the small cutting edge for both top and bottom of pie. This worked perfect. The photo shows the pies in front are done with the small cutter and the back were the first ones that are trimmed.I adjusted the timings too. They only needed 4 minutes to cook perfectly. Also flaky pastry works better than short pastry. The first pies had an apple filling and the second were vegetable. There were enough to put in the freezer for another time.I love this pie maker. It is easy to use and clean after. It will get well used.
