I had to contact Ring to clarify what the snowflake is for. They sent all the details to understand what it is for . It’s a shame it was not included in the box. They were very helpfull.

I purchased this 8A charger as we have two vehicles with both AGM and Lithium batteries. Charging the latter was easy as it has a specific section in the menu but no mention of AGM amongst the menu options. The instructions do show AGM compatability, as does the website product page, so I have been using the 12v Car setting under the assumption this smart charger would work out what it was charging.Having been concerned that I might be missing something, I messaged Ring technical and received the following response:The winter mode should be selected if you have an AGM battery.Winter mode shows a snowflake *. It slightly raises the charging voltage which is needed when charging an AGM, any time of year, winter or summer.So yes, it is AGM compatible but you must always use the 12v Car snowflake setting for an AGM battery, regardless of ambient temperature, which is not mentioned in the instructions. No idea if I have caused any damage to the battery by charging it at a slightly lower voltage but hopefully the above information will prevent other AGM users from doing so.

Very little you have to do other than set the size of vehicle (battery) then leave it to it. Seems to have revived the stop start battery in my 520d and saved us for now from an expensive replacement battery costing 100s.

I have an old trickle charger that I have had for about 20-years. However, considering all the advances in battery technology this seems a bit too basic now. We have a 3.0 litre car and a smaller hybrid car, both with very different batteries and battery maintenance requirements. The hybrid in particular has been the most problematic one, battery wise. This battery maintainer will hopefully not only cover our existing needs but also those in the foreseeable future.It is pretty easy to operate, and it is nice to leave all the clever stuff for it to do automatically. It comes with 2 battery connection types, supplied as 2 separate plug-in leads. I am very pleased with the item itself. I just need to find a suitable box or bag to keep it in. The box it came in is less than ideal to keep it in long term. This is the only reason why I have deducted a star.

Great charger especially if you have a garage, you can charge your battery and then just leave it hooked up to your car ready for use and when you return home again just hook it back up, brilliant.I do very little mileage so this is the perfect partner for my car, by the way my car is a BMW with connection points under the bonnet.
