I have always believed proper break-in extended the life and improved the performance of any engine. Often wished oil was available formulated to meet the demands of a new engine during the first critical hours of operation. I always avoided premium or synthetic oils the first 500-1000 miles on my cars and trucks etc. Never have had a engine failure or oil burner and I am 84. Naturally I change my oil every 5000 miles or 6 months and use quality oils. For years I have used Synthetics. Now I am happy a oil is available formulated just to protect a engine during break-in. I just got a new generator and if ever help was needed during during break-in a air cooled engine is it. This does not eliminate the need to change oil after first hour or two but the extra protection will pay off as the years pass. My last 5000 watt generator after careful break-in ran flawlessly for 14 years and in the hands of the new owner continues to perform.
