Kitchen game changer
Duck fat was a game changer in my kitchen. Love it! Expensive- yes! But so worth the additional cost. I can’t imagine sautéing for a crisp exterior on my food without it. Exceptional on fried potatoes or hash browns. It has a very high smoke point and is healthy to boot. Highly recommend.

NO DOCUMENTATION OF COUNTRY OF ORIGIN OR COUNTRY OF MANUFACTURE- OFFSHORE CUSTOMER SERVICE
HEADS UP! NO COUNTRY OF ORIGIN, UPDATED***This may be a great product and good value but I am contacting Amazon concerning returning these jars of duck fat. This particular brand is oily but may thicken upon refrigeration. Some that is sourced from France is the consistency of salad oil and some is creamy and the consistency of shortening like Crisco, but that isn't the reason for my concernEPIC Duck Fat;s Customer Service is unable to provide a Country of Origin for their duck fat or how and where it is processed. When I contacted the 800 number on the label I was sent to an offshore (Phillipines) call center for General Mills and the representative could only tell me that" he was sure it was from the United States" however he could not direct me to the information he was referencing. The information on the Amazon website for the individual jars indicated that this was a USA product, however upon receipt there is NO Product of USA label or packing anywhere. (or any other country for that matter). No USA flag no country of manufacture. No statement whether this was processed with mammal fats as well.Since there are so many questionable manufacturing practices common in other countries, the only conclusion I can draw is that there is a reason not to be transparent with this product.Since I'm returning this purchase, I didn't open it.I've purchased duck fat from several different vendors with 100% satisfaction and this is a red flag. The other concern is that this item was dated to expire 12/2025.That is within the next 6 months.I did email General Foods with my questions and received a generic confirmation of receipt of the email back stating that they had a high number of incoming emails and that they would respond as soon as possible.***UPDATE 7/14/25 I received a generic email saying "the duck is sourced within the US not limited to any state, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and adhering with General Mills quality and safety (food and human) policy"Whatever this is supposed to clarify, it misses the point.Hopefully I am being entirely overcautious but it seems strange that an offshore service representative would say that although he attempted unsuccessfully to determine the country of origin and country of manufacture he was sure it was USA.

Sweet and tasty
I learned about duck fat 7 months ago and absolutely love it! It leaves a mildly sweet aftertaste and it's absolutely great for cooking. I use it for over easy eggs, rice, stir fry, and other delicate meats.

It would be nice
if it didn’t expire in 5 months. Tried to return, no returns, but they did ship me another case at no charge. The expiration date on the replacement case is in 3 months. 🙄 I won’t be ordering my duck fat on Amazon, I’ll pay more but I’ll get an acceptable expiration date at Whole Foods. Otherwise, Epic brand duck fat is a great product.
