I wear a size 8 med in most footwear. My daughter-in-law owns a pair and we wear the same size so I tried on her boots with thick socks. They felt comfortable so I ordered my normal size (8 US size) though I read many reviews that mentioned size running bigger. When boots arrived I put on with thick socks and immediately questioned myself if I should have sized down :(. I walked around the house with boots on, hoping I would feel differently. The other issue I have is that my calves, though not fat, they are more muscular causing me not to wear higher boots. Thought I could get away with mid/low calve boot. I should say the boots are NOT tight in the calve area and I could fit two fingers space in this area at calve area, however, for me it was too close for comfort. I am 5' tall, and these hit just at mid calf. I am a 7 1/2 in shoes & boots, and the instructions were to order down for a bit looser fit. I ordered a 7, and with socks they're just fine. Not big bulky socks, not thin dress socks, just normal socks.
