Mist 2 (GL-MT2500/GL-MT2500A) is a lightweight and powerful VPN gateway that runs on the OpenWrt v21.02 operating system. It is compactly designed to host a VPN server at home or run SD-WAN (Site-to-Site) for small and medium-sized businesses.

Review: FINALLY!! A device that works..., for me. - I have tried a RPI (tricky & unreliable), Asus AC-88U (slow, max 44 MB/s OVPN only) for my VPN. Stumbled upon this and thought I would give it a try. Perfect for me. Connection via Ethernet from my SKY modem/router, enabled VPN client on device (Mullvad), any that supports Wireguard or OVPN (will be slower though) will do and connected to my ASUS router via Ethernet & Bob's your uncle, it works. Speeds from 250 MB/s (using the Asus as the WiFi router) via WiFi up to 450 MB/s via Ethernet. I only have a 500 MB/s line. I am over the moon with this device as it delivers all I need for my house needs. If you are looking for an easy to use and reliable & fast gateway VPN device, this is it.

It's a neat way to divert traffic from multiple devices over a VPN simply by changing the default gateway to this device. I configured it as a drop in gateway with Wireguard and it is quick. Near wire speeds. Unfortunately after almost 18 months, it died. Various recovery methods on their support site/forums failed to bring it back to like, so I reached out to their support. And they blew me away. With no issues they offered a replacement (to the -A which is all the now do) and to pay for return postage of the original. It's so nice to see a quality company who stand by their products. I cannot recommend enough.

**Q: Why does it have a 2.5gbe wan port if the lan port is only 1gbe? what is the common use case for the extra speed if it's not available on the lan?**
A: Also you. A push 1gb through the lan and have 1.5gb left for the wireless. 

Also I use this as a file server and change the wan to lan. I can use the full 2.5gb on my 2.5gb wired network for transferring files.

**Q: Country of origin is China. How do I know my data does not go there?**
A: Although the device was originally from China, your personal data is guaranteed to be secured and would not be leaked to third parties.
