I needed a quick code outlet lock from my home as my mother has Alzheimers and always wants to pack everything and walk out and leave. As a family we needed to exit without her being able to figure out how it worked. The concept and function deserves 5 stars and initially after install the lock worked as expected and deserved 5 stars. Now after a few months of multiple daily uses we are encountering some issues, some very concerning. The lock was easy to set up and as a 4 button code, we just set the top 4 buttons which the thumb easily covers and the handle depressed to exit. If you mis-coded the buttons, just hit 'C' to clear and re-code. An easy way to exit without Mom seeing the coding action or the code, another 5 stars. After much discussion over what we needed for our situation, we selected the double key-less lock system. After these few months, we would have probably have chosen just to get the key-less lock for inside and a passage or key lock for the outside or even a separate dead-bolt lock in addition to the key-less; to allow easy exit and night protection too. Now we have to manually keep the outside key-less lock dis-engaged, using only the inside lock. When we leave the house we engage the outside lock also for home protection. So the outside lock is almost not used, giving it a 4 star rating compared to a single key-less lock with passage handle. When we return to the home, we do not need a key to enter, only the 4 button code and the door opens. Now the real problems: Within the last month we have had multiple lock/button failures. I am very careful depressing the buttons all the way and the magnets should be functioning correctly, and usually they do, but when they don't the 'C' button needs to be pushed to clear them to reengage. The clearing procedure is not always foolproof. Sometimes when one lock coding fails to engage, that side of the door will not disengage and remains locked. Usually going to the other side the door can be opened and you can clear the magnetic lock out. But we have now encountered a few times when one side coding is locked out and the other side becomes jammed also. Very disconcerting, even when we are able to clear it, we wonder if there will be a time that we cannot clear the lock in an emergency or at all, and if we are not able to get to both sides of the lock to figure out how to clear them. Deserving only 3 stars for the double key-less lock compared to the single key-less lock. Would I buy this lock again? Yes, certainly! Now if we cannot figure out why these issues continue to happen, and it may just be different people using the coding system; smaller hands, not fully engaging the buttons, etc.. It may be we are not correctly engaging the 'C' clearing procedures, and it may be some internal failure. Since these locks are interchangeable, I may just pull one to keep as a spare and order the passage handle for the outside, using this combination with my dead-bolt for home safety. Giving that arrangement a 5 star rating.

I purchased a few of these for the building where I over see the building. They do work great, and are very easy to install, change the codes, ect. What I must say, and the reason I only give three stars, is that the handle will strip very easy as it only has one allen head screw keeping it in place. I starting buying the Schlage FE575, http://amzn.to/1QjGHyF and simply love it. If you select the flex-lock, it also provides the option of keeping the lock, unlocked. I cant say enough about it.
