Slightly Unwieldy - Works Great
If like me you enjoy a spot of gardening and growing your own, then one of the most frustrating parts can be trying to tie vines and stems to sticks and trellis, fiddling about with twist ties and string is a recipe for quickly building levels of annoyance! Hence when I saw these binding pliers I was intrigued to try them out!First impressions are good, the pliers remind me somewhat of an oversized connector you'd find in a set of jump leads for your car, and they are made of the same metal. There is no constriction required as it is fully assembled and is already loaded with tape and staples. In the box you also get 20 long roles of tape and lots of staples, which should literally be enough to last many years I would expect. It kind of goes against the usual practice of selling you a base product and then making you buy overpriced consumables, which is very refreshing to see!Build quality seems excellent, everything that moves is metal, so nothing is going to snap or wear out easily, and its very utilitarian looking, certainly not like anything I have comes across previously!Operation wise, it is not intuitive how it works at first that much is certain, and I spent a few mins trying unsuccessfully around my finger (note do not do this as there are sharp cutters and staples). However once you watch the video attached to the advert it then makes sense that you simply have to press together lightly to allow the tape to be picked up and then push it around the vine and pole and then clamp hard to crimp and staple it in place...It works pretty flawlessly each time once you get the hang of it.Reloading the tape and staples is easy enough, the cover pops off to load the tape, and the staples go in quite a similar fashion to a normal stapler.Positives✅ - Good utilitarian build quality✅ - Forms nice stapled ties✅ - Endless amount of tape and staples included (20 rolls of tape, 2 boxes of staples)Not So Goods➗ - Somewhat fiddly setup - Need to watch the advert video to understandOverall for £27 this is a bit of a bargain if you have a lot of plants in your garden that need tying every season, its certainly one of the things I like the least and I often leave stuff that then falls over! So having this handy tool will make that a thing of the past..I haven't found any real negatives to it aside from being somewhat non-intuitive at first, once you know how it needs to be setup its plain sailing from then on!Makes a good present for a relative who likes their gardening too I would imagine, esp given its totally mechanical, would recommend.

Useful garden tool
I must admit I struggled with the instructions but there are a few YouTube videos to help. Soon as I seen it I got how to use.It did come loaded with tape and staples it was how you got it to re- hook that I struggled with, it’s a re lock and it reloads tape. The Tapener is well made and easy to use. I attached wisteria to the metal tension lines. I supported the tomato plants on the canes as they were flopping. I have so many plants I want to train. I will swap the colour of the tape out to green with the permanent plants it doesn’t matter having blue tape on vegetables.I think it a good price as you get 20 rolls of tape and 2 boxes of staples. I will be using this all around the garden for a few years I expect.
