Safe, lightweight and inexpensive
Very happy with this and I've waited for my daughter to try it out before leaving a review. At £60 this isn't much more than a decent body board and is much better quality than the cheap polystyrene boards. It's very light and my 9 year old daughter can carry it all the way down the the sea (Saunton Sands Beach - the tide goes out a LONG way).At 6ft it fits INSIDE my campervan easily and being light and soft isn't a danger. The fins are also rubber. We purchased a Surfdome Shortboard Sock (under a tenner) to slide over it to keep the wetness and sand in check.I'll be honest, she has struggled to stand up on it, but that's because she has been using an adult learners 9ft foamie which has way more volume. However, this is going to teach her that she needs a bit more skill and balance to get up on this and I'm fine with that. The only down side is the leash needs upgrading really. I got a proper SOLA adult version for £16 (see other reviews). This will last her until we work out if she is really serious about wanting to learn. Then I'll be ready to shell out the real money on a proper board (and re-use the leash and sock).

Reasonable first board
Nice looking board and very light, making it possible for my ten year to carry it solo (providing there's no wind!).Very reasonably priced and ok as a first board but it does feel cheap - the holes for one of the fins were not quite placed correctly making it difficult to attach them flush to the board and meaning that the bolt cut into the foam on the top. Also, when it arrived there were two air bubbles in the underside of the board.Advice states that the bigger the board the easier it is for a learner, and six foot isn't actually that big but we were restricted by ability to transport the board to the beach and also looked at it in terms of board to person size ratio (this board is for a ten year old beginner). Having said all that, my ten year old inexperienced surfer has taken it for a ride in two foot surf and caught several waves, she's really happy with it and it looks likely that she'll get a good summers surfing out of it, maybe two. If she continues to enjoy the sport I will be looking to purchase a better quality board for her to progress on but this is fine for now.
