Lay that foundation now, and make it solid, with Addition Facts That Stick! 41 small b&w diagrams, 9 full page b&w diagrams/ga Review: If your kid is struggling with understanding and knowing addition facts, buy this book! - My daughter has always been great at just simply memorizing things, but when I took a hiatus from her homeschool math curriculum to try just plain memorizing with addition, she struggled. Even after weeks of going over it we had not gotten too far at all. I was hesitant to take an even longer pause from the math curriculum to purchase this and do another 6 weeks, but I knew she needed something else to help her understand it. We are only on week 3 day 2 and she has shown SIGNIFICANT improvement on knowing addition facts instead of having to stop and count. So glad I purchased this and decided to pause and focus on getting her solid in her addition facts. I think itโs going to significantly help her going forward for all future math. Iโll probably end up buying the subtraction one also. The games are fun. My daughter had been dreading math because she was struggling, now she asks to do the math games even after we are done with our school work for the day. Also helpful hint , I tore out the worksheets and put them in laminated binder sleeves so she can do it with a dry erase marker and if I think she needs an extra day with one, I can have her redo it another day. Review: Way better than flash cards! - My seven year old is advanced in her reading and math scores but struggles with rote memorization and didn't know all of her addition facts entering in to second grade. My plan was to buy some flash cards and work on them with her but luckily I found this book instead. She LOVES it. She doesn't like when I teach her anything at home but each lesson at the beginning of the week is relatively short and not too painful (we agree to do five minutes of the lesson which gets is almost all the way there if she is on board and at that point she is fine with just finishing the lesson so we can get to the game). After that it's just playing a game and a quick worksheet (it takes her 1-2 min and she doesn't mind since she knows all of the answers after playing the game) each day! We do the game in the morning while chatting and eating breakfast so it's easy to fit in to our schedule and she really likes them so far. Just two lessons in and she has painlessly learned a bunch of her addition facts and improved in the rest. I peeked ahead and I just know she will like the rest of the games as well. (Sorry, couldn't wait to finish doing all of the lessons before reviewing because it's already such a hit). Some tips: I keep the game time fun and if I sense she is not feeling it, I don't push. Basically I ask her if she would like to play another round until either she gets tired or I have to cut her off so she can go to school. I also explained to her what the book was about and why it was worth doing at the beginning (and had to convince her memorizing addition facts is actually worth while as it will help her do more of the math she likes like solving for unknown integers with multiple equations). She liked reading about how/why the author developed her methods. Basically, I got her buy-in.

This WORKS!
My daughter was struggling with remembering addition facts. We have tried other math programs, and she was not able to remember them. I was desperate and thought I would give this a try. This book helped improve her addition skills and retention of the addition facts. She liked the variety of games and short worksheets. It really works! We are now working on the subtraction facts by Kate Snow.

Amazing!
Love love love Kate Snowโs math books!! We did Dimensions math earlier in the year, and my son was starting to hate math. So I switched to Kate Snowโs Math with Confidence, and he just fell in love with Math! We both love this โfacts that stickโ series as well! (My son even noticed that itโs by the same author, because both books have her photo on the back, and he was excited to dive in!) I just wished this series had more child friendly cover illustrations like the other series she published. My son actually gets scared with the cover illustration, and I had to cover it with cute bunny picture.

Support your child in foundation addition!
We have used this book to support our homeschooled children before we move on to their โgrade levelโ math Singapore books. I really appreciate Kate Snowโs step-by-step guide for the parent. Math wasnโt my strongest subject when I was a child and the guide gave me confidence to teach my children. We had all the materials needed for the games already at home with playing cards, dice, a printer, and math counters we bought secondhand. I decided to photocopy the games and not tear anything out of this book so we can pass it on to another family down the line. Very simple and effective fun ways for our children to learn.

Best Math Facts Resource Period.
I am so glad I have this resource! We have used the good and the beautiful math for our homeschool pre-K-2nd and hit a major wall when we tried using their 3rd grade math program. I switched to Math With Confidence and quickly realized how broad but surface-level my kidsโ understanding of math was and how they were behind specifically in their math facts and mental math. We were starting to try flash cards but those were drudgery and slow going. Itโs unbelievable how quickly my 3rd and 1st grader have JOYFULLY picked up their math facts by just using ten frames and playing these daily games/practice sheets. I highly recommend both Addition and Subtraction โFacts That Stickโ (thatโs as far as weโve made it, since weโre catching up, but weโll be buying the programs for multiplication & division as well!)

Master Math Facts While Having Fun
I love this series! I have purchased the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division books. They have been a game changer for our homeschool. My daughter had really struggled with memorizing math facts before we began going through this series. Now we can do 4 or 5 digit math problems with ease. She loves to play the suggested games and will often play them with siblings.

This book worked for us- my daughter has gained confidence and is on track!
I noticed that my daughterโs addition and subtraction were very shaky after first grade, and was nervous as we were preparing to start her at a new school after moving. The author recommends that you spend five days on each lesson, but we sped up the program a bit so that we would have time to work through both the addition and subtraction books this summer. This has helped her immensely. We spent a day or two on some lessons in the full five days on the other lessons. It has also helped her significantly with her subtraction, and to understand the relationships of numbers in general, highly recommend and weโll be using the division and multiplication books as well!

Quality of binding is bad
The content of the book is great but the quality of the binding is extremely disappointing. The first few pages started to come off completely from the book after just a week of light use. Now Iโm worried that all the pages in the book will come off as I have had to tape the pages that came off to hold them together.

Addition
Excellent book for kids and anyone who wants to understand how to count using the tens frame method. In Switzerland and Germany kids learn to count using similar methods in school. Therefore it is great for parents who speak English to get a clear explanation so they can teach and support their kids in school. It is also great for those who homeschool their kids.

Amazing!
This is an amazing book and program. It is exactly what my son needed. The activities are short enough and lots of fun, so it's easy to squeeze it in even on busy days. My son looks forward to them. I will definetly be going through all the series for all my kids. Thanks Kate! :)
