Pressure Cooking Pleasure
We have had a 5.25 qt Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker for 4 years, for daily use that one was a bit big to handle. We were looking for a smaller 2.5 to 4 qt pressure cooker for quick one time portion meals for 3- 4 people. We tried other brands, both for money savings and variety, and after being disappointed with the construction and quality returned them promptly. We decided to plunge again into Kuhn Rikon, ordered this 2.5 qt Pressure Cooker. Wife is happy - appropriate for small, quick meals, is easy to handle, clean, and store. It feels and looks solidly constructed which makes it slightly on the heavier side for it's size.If you are already familiar with pressure cooking then Kuhn Rikon is the best in class, and if you are already aware of Kuhn Rikon, there is nothing more to add. If the size is right for you, it will serve many, many years.

A high-altitude essential in my kitchen -- Would buy again!
I have 2 Kuhn Rikon pressure cookers (2.65 qt purchased in 2008 and 5.25-qt model in 2007). They're great for cooking at sea level, but, now living at an altitude of 7,000-foot, I consider them to be kitchen essentials. If I could have only one size, I'd go with the larger 5.25-qt model and just cook extra food to freeze, since a minimum volume has to be met. Given my KR pressure-cooker love, though, it's nice having both sizes.I've loved both of my KR pressure cookers & have used them regularly. At this high altitude, it takes a whole lot of precious fuel and half of forever for water to get to a low boil. I'd had my larger pressure cooker for a long time before it suddenly dawned on me that -- in addition to cooking things in it -- I could also save a ton of time & fuel when cooking pasta by boiling water in it to transfer into my regular pasta-cooking pot. If I used it only for that purpose, it would have long since paid for itself.I'm surprised that I've not yet had to replace the gasket in either pot. I wash and store my gaskets gently but, even so, didn't expect their longevity and continuing great condition. I haven't had to replace any other parts, either. Upon other reviewers' recommendations, I purchased the KR Energy Saver / Flame Protect and highly recommend it. In addition to using it with my pressure cookers, I use it for (1) more even browning of food on the stove top; and (2) achieving a very low simmer, which is otherwise impossible to do with my stove burners. For whatever it's worth, if the idea of pressure cooking makes you nervous, I used to be really scared of it myself. I'd heard too many horror stories about old cookers blowing up and how the cookers had to be constantly and closely monitored. My Kuhn Rikon pots have never given me a moment's worry, and I feel completely safe in using them. This has freed me up to worry about other stuff. :))

Beautiful!
I fell in love with the Kuhn Rikon Pressure Cooker the minute I took it out of the box. It's very sturdy, stylish and well made with a minimum of plastic. I'd emailed the company directly to make sure the Amazon products were in fact made in Switzerland. They responded within a few hours to all my emails and yes all of their products are made in Switzerland.( I had just returned a Fagor cooker for safety reasons but was also very disappointed that Amazon didn't print in their ad that it was made in China). I've only had the Kuhn Rikon for a week but so far it's very easy to use, the food tastes great and the clean up is quick. Using a pressure cooker one has to be confident in the product to fully enjoy the experience and this one works great for me. I highly recommend this product.

Jury is still out on this.
Even though this is my second Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker, I'm having issues with this one.

Safety Issue
The frying pan is great; I bought two, one for me and one for my sister, but I had an issue with the safety valve after two years of using it. I ordered from Amazon the part to replace it. Now, my sister has the same issue. Unfortunately, I was not successful in finding this part. I think the company should make all the parts available for consumers to purchase.

pressure frying
Right from the get-go this pressure frying pan worked great. I felt sort of on my own because there aren't a lot of pressure frying recipes out there. But I am an experienced pressure cooker user so I felt fairly confident jumping in. One of my favorites is slow-roasted tomatoes, 2 hours or so in the oven - 7 minutes in the PC frying and I couldn't tell the difference. A beautiful job of frying potatoes, 5 minutes prep, 2-3 minutes browning potatoes, 5 minutes PC and you're ready to go. In other words you can brown and pressure cook with oil with this pan and when you add water, you add a lot less than with a regular PC. it's a well-made unit which you would expect for the price. Those are the pros, the cons:Instruction book inferior like many from Europe. Almost nothing about the frying pan and I find some of the suggested times to be a bit off too. Recipe book mixes in a few frying pan recipes with regular PC recipes which makes them hard to find. They need a separate frying pan instruction book and separate recipes for FP.There is a little safety valve which comes unattached to the top. Difficult to find clear instructions on how to attach and once attached has a tendency to fall off. Poor design.because of 'dimpled' bottom of FPPC no trivet is included as with other KR PC's.( Dimpled bottom supposedly acts as a trivet.) But some of FP recipes call for a trivet so it should be included.
